Nicole Not Boozing It Up At The Oscars, Says Her Rep
In response to allegations from New York Post columnist Cindy Adams that Nicole Kidman was drinking wine at he Academy Awards, which we reported about….
The Australian actress' publicist, Catherine Olim of PMK, sent PerezHilton.com the following statement:
"I try to ignore your column, unlike most of the rest of the world, because it is so nasty. But I have to tell you that Nicole Kidman most certainly did NOT drink white wine or any other alcoholic beverage backstage. She had water and lemon zinger tea. That’s it. I know, I was there with her I cannot remember that last time that Cindy Adams got anything right. She’s an idiot, and you can quote me."

Because NOBODY knows what their metabolic rate is, you cannot possibly predict what amount of alcohol will have an adverse affect on your pregnancy. This is why SINCE 1973, the recommendation is to abstain from ALL alcohol use. Another concern within the healthcare industry, has to do with the inability to undertand the medical definition of an ALCOHOLIC. An ALCOHOLIC is someone who consumes more than a particular number of units of alcohol regardless of the effects. So while people walk around thinking they are not alcoholics because they dont get DRUNK every day, they actually do meet the critieria of a medical definition. If you are medically defined as an alcoholic (different from mental and social) you have a 40% increase in having a child with FAE or FAS. Again, this is the reason to recommend refraining/abstinence. HOWEVER and that being stated, no a glass of wine or champagne or a beer every once in a while will not adversely affect the pregnancy. This in NO way implies DAILY imbibing as your metabolic rate would come into play which… is not predictable.

You totally contradicted yourself. First you stated that since no one knows their metabolic rate that the amount of alcohol that will cause defects is not known. Then at the end you stated that one drink will not cause harm. How do you know that the one drink will not cause defects??????? How do you know that at that particular moment that the person consumes the drink is not the prime development stage and does cause something to go wrong. You obviously do NOT know about pregnancy and alcohol.
If you can't be responsible enough to stop drinking for 9 short months then what makes you think that you are going to be a responsible Parent for 18 years.
