Probe Into Ledger's Doctors!
Filed under: Drugs > Heath Ledger
Is his family cool with this??? We think they may want closure.
But, we gotta prevent something like this from happening again!
Federal drug investigators are interrogating two doctors concerning the death of actor Heath Ledger.
The docs are believed to have supplied Ledger with the painkillers Oxycotin and Vicodin. Authorities want to know if the drugs were prescribed illegaly by the doctors, one of which is located in California, the other in Texas.
On January 22 of last month, the NYC medical examiner determined Heath died at 28 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs, including painkillers, anti-anxiety medication, and sleeping pills.
A law official says, "It's an ongoing investigation. It's not clear if there was any wrongdoing."
Sources say that the federal Drug Enforcement Administration has subpoenaed the medical examiner's report as part of its investigation on the doctors.
Prescription drug abuse is a serious issue. Doctors that feed into that can not be tolerated!

hahha good one Sean. And "Perez" get your facts straight! Heath died on January 22nd, the medical examiner report was made public on February 6th so he didn't determine it was an overdose on the 22 as you've stated!!
People Magazine fires back as the editor defended Christina on the People Magazine undersold. Eat the truth Perez
Drug addict OD, fact of the addiction

Cannot is one word.
God bless Heath and fry those Doc's if they did anything wrong!

Re: Jillian – quit yer bitchen and get back in the kitchen you stupid whore
Re: OMAR – sorry your one dream in life didn't work out, asshole
Drugs kill idiots….DEAD!
Oh shut up Perez. You don't know a thing about what you are talking about and if this had happened to a normal person, you wouldn't have had a second thought about it.
Whoa! If they'd said doctors in London, or NYC, or in Australia, I wouldn't have been surprised. He lived in NYC, worked in London, visited family in Oz. But Texas and California sounds really odd. I wonder if the Olsons were involved. Like with a referral? Whatever happens, I hope the docs responsible for writing those prescriptions and then not following up or monitoring or taking responsibility for it, are force fed their own drugs so they end up like Heath. The fuckers!
I think Heath was in a very vulnerable place. I think he needed help and didn't get the right kind. Yes, he made bad choices. But I think he was definitely not thinking clear. You can't think clear when you are sick, in pain, suffering from Depression and panic attacks and only getting two hours sleep a day for months! He looked terrible in a picture I saw someone painted of him. He sat for a portrait in Australia and he was so thin and exhausted looking it was scarey. I really loved Heath. I am so sad he didn't get the help and support he needed when he was in trouble. It is very sad. I hate these unscrupulous doctors. If you can't trust a doctor, who are you gonna trust when you are in trouble!
I have to give big props to the media for so successfully covering up the fact that Heath was a HEROIN ADDICT.
Seriously, it's about time!!
WTF did Heath need Oxycontin for???
I don't think he had cancer!!!
That shit is SERIOUS!
Well, i can't say i blame the doctors. Heath was a dumbass and mixed a shitload of pills together, what did he expect to happen?
I am on a couple of the pills he was on at the time of his death. Making them harder to obtain would be devastating to me and the people that actually need them and don't abuse them. Heath was a drug addict plain and simple.
Unfortunately, what a sad state of affairs. There's always the possibility that he was murdered via overdose because he portrayed a homosexual in the acclaimed movie Brokeback Mountain and it has been covered up. Rest his soul.
It may have been an accidental OD, but he intentionally was abusing drugs and doctor shopping. He played; he paid. No one to blame except Ledger. But of course, the rich and famous never accept responsibility for anything.
NO WONDER THE AVERAGE GUY ON THE STREET CANT GET ANY PAIN RELIEF,AFTER ALL THE CELEBS O.D.,DUII,ETC..THE REST OF US WITH PAIN GOTTA SUFFER CAUSE DR.S ARE AFRAID TO KICK DOWN SOME DECENT MEDS BECAUSE CELEBS HAVE MADE THEM ”NOTORIOUS”.
It's "Oxycontin", not "Oxycotin".
That is all.
Re: Annie – i have to agree here.. why did he need oxycontin? after i had SURGERY once they put me on a painkiller that contained Oxycontin. And the doctors even warned my parents how it can be addictive… and once the pain from SURGERY stopped they told my parents to take me off of it … why the hell would the doctors put him on that? if he wasnt in any physical pain he should never have been perscribed that.
I completly understand that the family would want closure but this is a very serious subject that alot of people overlook. My father is an addict and sees many different doctors (I mean like 15) to get the drugs he needs. My family has tried to bust the doctors but because of HIPPA laws it is so hard. By them investigating on Heath's case because of his fame, maybe it will become a serious issue and something can be done to stop it.
Perez's comments piss me off. "Is his family cool with this?" Who the hell cares! Famous or not, nobody is above the law. Just as you or I wouldn't get special treatment, neither should his family. Though, I have a sneaking suspicion they already have. I believe Heath was actively playing many doctors to get the meds. He knew exactly what he was doing and what he was taking.
these people aren't like you or me. they have huge amounts of dough, and are well-connect to 'Dr. Feelgoods' that will write them scripts for narcotics for $$. it's not that easy to get scripts for oxy and other narcs, and also benzo's like valium or klonopin or whatever. he was doctor shopping, going from one to the other. the olsen skeletons probably referred him to their own Dr. Feelgood, you know those chicks are on all kinds of amphetamines like ritalin or adderall to keep them so thin. like alot of kids today, they probably grind them to powder and snort them. its a shame, but none of this is suprising. and yes once the screws start turning eventually these meds will be harder to obtain for people who really need them.
Re: S –
Sad, but so very true. I think his illegal addictions fueled his need for the meds. I bet he was snorting the oxycontin to get the heroin effect. His pr firm did a really good job of sanitizing the whole thing.
um…the family has no say regarding this probe into the doctors. The DEA doesn't give a crap if the family wants closure. They want to find out if drugs were illegally prescribed/obtained, etc.
There is a concept out there called personal responsibility. Common sense dictates you should not mix sedatives, downers, tranquilizers, pain killers together. These meds can be quite beneficial if taken correctly. If you don't want to die, don't mix these dangerous drugs together.
You have to be careful with overzelous prosecutions of pain doctors. As someone with a chronic illness, I (and others) suffer because of the DEA's lynch mob mentality. Heath Ledger was a grown man who would have to have been a complete dumbass to combine those drugs AND think it was okay for his body in any way. YOU WANT FREEDOM? THEN THAT MEANS ALLOWING JUNKIES TO OVERDOSE. No big deal. His Life. His Death. His Choice.
whats the big deal about prescription drug abuse? shit happens. i love pills. so does everyone i know. its the new cocaine my friends. leave the poor doctors alone. an addict knows when they are becoming an addict. they are the one ultimately responsible for themselves. not some moron government going on a witch hunt for publicity. thats the real wrong. no one seemed to raise an issue with all the young kids on pills even though the government knew about it. why didnt they do anything? oh yeah…they dont care about the average joe.
My physician friends have told me that they cannot prevent a patient who wants these types of drugs from going to another doctor to get them. Or piecing together a drug checklist from many doctors. Remember, we don't have any kind of universal health records system, so one doc doesn't know what is going on with their patient and another doc. Those who crave a multitude of drugs will get them. If it's only two doctors in Heath's case who prescribed, they many have over prescribed. But it could be many docs and they're starting by interviewing two. It's Heath's fault at the end of the day.
Well, THe doctors should be to blame considering they are the ones who are prescribing the medication, they are to reason we lost Heath, Doctors have the responsibility to look into ones files of what they have been prescribed and when so if the doctors didn't look and just gave him the medicine well they are only interested in the money aspect of the business not someones wellbeing!
Don't mess with my doctor bitches,it won't be there fault if i od on my meds so why should it mater if this weak fuck did.Everybody's always looking for someone to blam,it was his fault not the dotors.
People die everyday of accident overdoses because there are so many doctors out there just looking to get paid they dont care who they hurt. I know many doctors out there that will just give you what you ask for for a pretty penny, or you can just get the pills online. But obviously just the pure fact that he was on different medications and smoked just shows that he was just trying to cover up a bigger problem. Probably depression. Just because your famous doesnt mean you dont amke mistakes like everyone else. he was a great actor and will always be missed.
All of you moralists out there who want to go after the doctors should realize that the result is that people who legitimately need the drugs have trouble getting them. As a cancer patient, I have seen that the main thing doctors do to protect themselves is deny the drugs to everyone. Thank God I'm now being treated at a major medical center where that issn't a problem. You can't protect everyone from bad judgement-Heath, after all, is the one who swallowed that combination of pills.
MICHELLE WILLIAMS MURDERED ENNIS DEL MAR!!!!!
January 22nd of last month… getting a little redundant aren't we?
Re: Annie –
Are you a physician? Didn't think so. Oxycontin when used correctly can help people with chronic pain of many different origins. I don't have cancer but I do take a small dose of Oxycontin so that I can walk. Sometimes when the pain is too much I take Vicodin as well. I also have Ambien and Trazadone for insomnia. Zoloft for severe depression. And a dozen other medications that keep me alive. So please don't speak about that which you know nothing about. And if I had cancer, I'd probably be on Fentynl patches. Those are way stronger for pain. I know, I've been on those too.
If you tell your dr that you can't sleep and you're in LA and you tell your NY doc the same thing and your London doc the same thing..you will get more pills than you know what to do with…can't blame the docs
If the Doctors did something wrong they should be held accountable! There are to many people abusing prescription medication. This must stop.
FIRST off I am sure their family is going through a hard time but it's your SONS fault hes taking 5 pills for the same thing. No offense anyone knows multiple benzo sleeping pills is not safe. Everyone knows that.
Also SINCE the doctors are from different states and they arent NY what is that saying, it's saying HE and his people got drugs for him from mulitple doctors most likely NOT telling the doctor the other drugs hes on!
One doctor would not do this and thats why he had to go to multiple ones and hide and lie . It is sad what happened but it's not the doctors fault
Why doesn't the DEA hit downtown LA and clean up the clubs where half of Hollywood is busy doing drugs?
Nobody at fault here but Heath. No one forced those pills into his mouth.
Crap like this makes doctors think twice about prescribing pain medication to people who legitamately NEED it! I had kidney stones (which are excruciatingly painfull!). I would have committed suicide if I had not gotten pain relief. Aspirin or Motrin just does nothing.
There was plenty of press when it was believed Heath died of illegal drugs. When it was discovered pharmaceuticals killed him, everything went quite.
Now Perez, we don't want this to get buried along with Health. Doctors killed him.
Re: Heavily Medicated – I'm not sayin' it's just for cancer, I'm saying it's for SERIOUS pain, and it sounds like you have serious pain if you can't walk without Oxycontin. My question is, WTF was Ledger's diagnosis?
Sometimes I think people get on their high horse and forget what they themselves are like.
Has anyone ever had a headache and taken more tylenol than the bottle prescribed? or mixed pills? technically their are lots of vitamins and other things you're not suppose to mix with pain killers or anti-hystamines either.
Now some are going to say that Heath wasn't taking tylenol which is also true. But I know only a tiny bit about anti-anxiety medication, but what I do know is that Novo-Venlafaxine (Effexor) is a pretty serious drug. One that has a very small list of what you can take with it and an even smaller list of how much.
If there's a break in communication between doctors then that could have lead to what happened. If he didn't know, he could have just as easily killed himself that way and it would be called an 'accidental overdose'.
WHO CARES ABOUT THIS CRACKHEAD?
Re: JAKE – SUE ELLEN SHOT J.R.
I am all for this! Doctors often play god and are in a habit of writing prescriptions, hell, they make money off every one! Drug companies exploit animals (using and testing on them) and make billions of dollars off of getting people addicted, VIA DOCTORS.
My mother is addicted to Norco, a form of codine, given to her for post sugery pain treatment from an accident that almost killed her. its become the western medicines quick fix, give them drugs, make money everyone is happy, till someone dies.
Drug companies and doctors alike (and their shady relationship) should be investigated.
heath ledger was a damn good actor and the drug tape shown of him was so fucking edited! on that tape he said some stuff about his daughter and how he knows drug abuse is bad, but shows like E.T took the worst parts and showed them. i dont think they went as far as cutting pieces and putting them together, but they didnt show the real side of him they made him out to look like a total junkie and monster!Heaths death was to tragic and shouldnt have happened. yes it was an accident and could have been prevented, but we all no even if we have never done druggs THEY ARE ADDICTIVE eve if he wanted to stop, even if he tired to get help, it might not have totally helped.
he didnt take those pills to get high, he took them not thinking straight. some people think if u take 2 or more different types of low strength pills u will be fine, when in fact ur serving ur self up a deadly cocktail. but its not like he was doing meth or anything, he confirmed he smoked weed and stuff but stopped after matilda was born! he died because of a silly mistake but he will never be forgotten.
He was a great actor, great father and people close to him have confirmed that even tho his relationship with michele didnt work out, he still loved her and wanted the best for his family!
RIP heath and to anyone who thinks he was some type of attention seeking suicidal maniac………Fuck you u brainless twats! Get all the facts and info before you go and shoot you mouth off and people! dont just believe everthing you see on entertainment tonight! ( perez hilton always gets all the facts, his site isnt just trash talk or a load of shit)
Oh please. Listen folks, an addict/ abuser/ whatever can be very convincing. He/she can convince anyone that their pain is real, especially when they are doctor shopping. It's unreasonable to expect doctors to keep tabs on all of their activities. In the case of celebrities, we're dealing with people who are very convincing, have multiple addresses, proxies, etc. Prescription drug abuse IS a serious issue, but I'm more concerned about kids swallowing their parents' scrips than a competent adult making poor choices. Let's keep our focus on the real issues, and not pay attention only when a celeb is involved.
I'm from the Netherlands, Amsterdam
I'm still in shock and this will last for a long time. I've loved Heath as an actor and as person. He surely will be missed!!! All the people who thinks otherwise have to examine their heads! Dear Heath R.i.P. one day will meet again. For always in my heart. Shall I compare thee to a summersday? love, Rita
I think it's pitifully hilarious that you say, "We gotta" stop this from happening…
A little self obsessed?
Come on. Do you really think the Dr. in Texas knew what the Dr. in California prescribed? There is no way to blame this on them. People can go to different doctors and how could they possibly know about eachother? It's a personal responsiblity thing. I'm sad Heath is dead, but there is no way you can blame this on different doctors. If one doctor prescribed all his drugs, that's another issue.
