Spice Girl Mel C's wonderful new album, This Time, is being released in North America this April, and she's doing it on her own imprint, Red Girl.

Sporty is not only an artist…she's a business woman, too!

She states, "And (after) having experience with a major label, it was nice to be able to do the exact opposite and own the copyright to my songs," she continues. "I was very fortunate with the Spice Girls; financially, I was able to set up my own label and finance my own record."

Mel C. call's the style of This Time "mature pop." The first single off the album will be Carolyna which tells the story of a young runaway.

Love that song. Love this album.

Good for Mel!

Plus, exciting news for Sporty fans: she's planning to tour in the U.S. and Canada in support of the album's release!

      i purchased the album on itunes when it first became available last year
      it is amazing!!!! i hope for the north america version they include "first day of my life"
      it wasnt on the one i downloaded, but instead available on the 'carolyna' single
      AND i saw her in february at manhattan center…the girl puts on a great show

      Her album is only being released in Canada at this point and only touring Canada. She did two shows in the USA during the Spice Girls tour…saw the NY one and it was GREAT! Also, noticed it's not her label in Canada releasing it but Bristol Sessions.

      Awesome! Her new record is my second favourite. Her last record 'Beautiful Intentions' completely rocked. I love the chilled out feel to the new album, but the first single 'Carolyna' is so damn infectious, great hook and a good lead single.

      I hope it does well in Canada and the US… then send her back over to Europe… I'm missing jumping at Melanie C gigs! Good luck across the Atlantic, Melanie!
