Yup, Prince Harry is fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. And the ginger royal is is receiving praise for his exemplary work.
General Sir Richard Dannatt, the chief of general staff, said in a statement that Prince Harry "has been fully involved in operations and has run the same risks as everyone else in his Battlegroup. In common with all of his generation in the Army today, he is a credit to the nation."

"In deciding to deploy him to Afghanistan, it was my judgment that with an understanding with the media not to broadcast his whereabouts, the risk in doing was manageable," continued General Dannatt.
Now that Prince Harry's whereabouts have been made public, army bosses are considering sending him back to the U.K.
General Dannatt continues, "Now that the story is in the public domain, the Chief of Defense Staff and I will take advice from the operational commanders about whether his deployment can continue. I now appeal to the media to restrain from attempting to report Prince Harry's every move and return to our understanding."
"I am very disappointed that foreign Web sites have decided to run this story without consulting us. This is in stark contrast to the highly responsible attitude that the whole of the U.K. print and broadcast media, along with a small number of overseas, who have entered into an understanding with us over the coverage of Prince Harry on operations."

the problem with reporting prince harry's whereabouts is that it not only endangers his life, but the lives of those with whom he serves. i thought that was part of the reason they weren't going to deploy him in the first place (i.e. an easy target; possible attempts on his life would endanger others in his battle unit). i agree with perez- shame on those who leaked/reported this story!

Re: Sarah – I agree with you Sarah- my boyfriend is a LT. in the Navy and he and I just had that same convo. He read that is was the guy that writes Drudge Report that busted the story. So stupid- because whether people believe it or not those soldiers wanted to be there and because of the media they were put in danger and had to be sent elsewhere. Yeah I think it's awesome that Harry and Will are both in the military- that's amazing- but come on don't tell everyone everything about their whereabouts. It's a matter of national security.

Obviously, he can't take back anything he has already said, just that he won't post about it in the future. I think that is very admirable of Perez, not to mention Perez is smart enough to know that he doesn't want to defend himself against a possible security breach. Celeb gossip is one thing, but this is way out of Perez's league and he knows it.
