Doctors Cleared In Ledger Prob

As we mentioned yesterday, Federal drug investigators were interrogating two doctors concerning the death of actor Heath Ledger.

As of today, agents have ruled out any wrongdoing on both of their parts.

The doctors are not the source of the drugs OxyContin and Vicodin found in Ledger's system at the time of death.

Where'd he get them then????

Agents determined the physicians were responsible for prescribing Heath other medications, but they were not the prescribers of the main drugs responsible for his accidental overdose.

The investigation continues.

Please, kids, don't abuse drugs of any kind!

      We really need to step up education of prescription drug interaction and abuse in this country. I for one am not aware of all the consequences of taking multiple medications and I know a lot of other people who are not concerned or worried about taking a couple of vicodin with some other drug.

      everyone gets them from the internet. This is a huge problem that the government doesn't talk much about. Rather than punish the people that buy them they have been going after legitimate drug wholesalers who sell to pharmacies that fill order for internet companies

      DUH…. He did it to himself. He knew that he was abusing drugs… The mother of his child even left him over it. It was also known that he was going to other doctors to get different drugs which is a sign of addiction. So I'm not surprised and neither should anyone else be.

      Even if the docs had individually prescibed the pain killers, no one doc prescribed for Heath to take all of those meds at the same time in an undisclosed quantity. Anyone who takes all of those together is taking a risk. Its called Personal Responsibility. And it was an accident, a mistake, sadly, that Heath made. Doctors shouldn't be held liable for a person's mismanaging or self-medicating.

      Doesn't anyone think they should check if MaryKate Olsen has prescriptions for either OxyContin or Vicodin???? Maybe that's what they needed to get out of the apartment before Heath's body was found by police. The Rx's were probably in her name!!

      Investigation? What's there to investigate? Leave him and his family alone. As far as where the drugs could've come from…come on! I could get Vicodin or OxyContin without a prescription within a half an hour if I wanted to. I'm not sure why this incident is so "shocking" to the police.

      For all of you uninformed and lucky to have healthy bodies out there: do not presume to understand the concept of medicine. A person in chronic pain and in need on OXYCONTIN or another narcotic pain medicine takes it to be a functioning and normal human being. Yes, NORMAL. A person in pain has to adapt and find a new normal for them. Much like a person who is insulin dependent, if they do not personally regulate their medication or communicate with their doctor, they might overdose and die. But the function and benefit gained from pharmaceuticals is brilliant and life saving compared to lives lost. If a person is an addict, thats an entirely separate issue to be addressed, but it should NOT keep those in need of prescription medications from having access to them. Go to a burn ward and imagine living through the pain without narcotics and sleep aids. Imagine trying to get through the pain without wanting to commit suicide while the purpose of the medications that can save a person's sanity are withheld. OPen your mind and assume the person prescribing and the person taking have the BEST OF INTENTIONS. Those whole fall to other than best of intentions will pay their own price in time. Its not for anyone else to say what another person is enduring and what they should have access to. We don't need strangers being "big brother". This country and life is about personal freedom and personal responsibility.

      I read somewhere that he had 6 prescriptions in his room and that some if not all were European issued. At least two of the meds he was a taking are not FDA approved for sale in the US. Methinks he was doing a little doctor shopping in the UK. It's unfortunate that he was addicted to that stuff and unfortunate that docs are too ready to throw pills at a person instead of trying to figure out what is causing the depression or anxiety. Sad all the way around…

      I really wish his family/friends would have gotten him some help before all this happened. Someone had to of noticed that he was going downhill, I mean his pictures say it all. Yes, he died as a result of drug use, but there is a reason behind everything, he couldn't deal with his issues, so decided to get an 'out' and that cost him his life, and his daughter a father. I feel so sorry for people who don't get the help they need. People who do drugs or whatever they choose to 'make the pain go away' are dealing with soo much more and I hope and pray that his death makes everyone aware that if you're dealing with any depression, GET SOME HELP! In the end…Yes, he did this to himself, it's so very sad. I just hope he has found the peace that he was so obviously looking for.

Nobody knows whether he was intentionally mixing the drugs or whether it was a terrible accident. I have done it myself when in dire pain and have been unable to wait the 4 hrs until my next dosage. The guy had travelled from the UK with a respiratory infection. Perhaps he just didn't realise the stuff was still in his system. Perhaps he was depressed and was self-medicating. My point is we'll never know so stop fecking making assumptions when none of us are in possession of the full and accurate facts

      I fail to see whats is so strange about Heath having these drugs except for the Oxycontin. Lots of people have Vicodin and sleeping pills or antianxiety If they investigated the Drs nobody would be able get help for insomnia or anxiety or depression or pain. I have cancer and I have all the pills Heath had .

      Just to let you know, oxycontin is ONLY perscribed for extreme chronic pain, like people on chemotherapy or those who have been in a debilitating car/motorcyle accident. NOT even a previous surgery will get you oxycontin, they give you about a month supply of low dose vicodin. Any doctor who perscribed OC to a perfectly healthy person for minor pain, is doing it illegally.

      My logic of thinking concerning this matter is one of deep concern for society. Drugs..Drugs…Drugs. We can't obviously stop people from obtaining these substances, because as a nation-we do not try hard enough.
      Heath was an excellent, talented young man. Everyone knows this.
      So why are some of you dealing with whether or not he was, you can't bring him back from the dead-what do you have to gain by slowly diminishing his achievements. Let him rest in peace.

      I would almost bet that Mary-Kate Olsen gave him those drugs and that's why she was contacted before 911… so that she wouldn't be blamed for providing him with drugs that led to his death.       That is really good news for the doctors.

      As a former prescription junkie (although I prefer the term, 'drugstore cowboy'), I visited dozens of doctors to get drugs of various kinds. Whilst a couple of them are (to the junkie underground, anyway) known suppliers of legal narcotics, the rest weren't and didn't know about my addiction.

      I would hate to think a legitimate doctor got investigated because of me, and felt the same way when I read about Heath's doctor's investigation.
