      o.k. kissing bette midler's ass. scary. was he at the same show i was? we were there opening night. the opening montage is BEYOND scary. It makes no sense and Bruce Villanch who was sitting behind me should be shot. Her outfit in the opening number looks like something your grandmother would wear to a cocktail party her grandchildren were giving. The entire beginning of the show is shockingly LAME. I have seen almost every show Bette has ever done, I know her old management team and love and adore her. The show finally picks up about 1/2 way in but the montage of lindsey, reference to kathy griffin and playing a video is another lame piece that's got to go. I was shocked and a bit saddened that she is clearly (as she mentions several times) so into getting the money that she would allow this to go on. I don't know what showgirl must go on but this show must be revamped an rewritten. Our tickets were $300.00 and I have to say worth maybe $75.00. And I am one of her biggest fans.

      I was there opening night also. The Time reviewer quoted one of the lines incorrectly.

      After saying how exhausted she is, Bette states, "That's what happens when you do your own songs." The real line is, "That's what happens when you do your own singing." That's a totaly different.

      Oh yea, I heard about this. The show is packed with drag queens on roller skates. At the end of the show, Bette is lying on some chaise lounge chair. While two drag queens fan her, the rest roll up to her, lift up their tutus, and blow massive gas propelled, gooey, loose crap all over her. As the pile gets bigger and bigger the 2 fanning her start fanning faster and faster until she eventually disappears under a enormous mountain of sh1t. The lights slowly dim and the audience gives her a standing ovation.

      Bette Midler is BRILLIANT and, after seeing her shows three different times, I can honestly say that she's better than ANYONE live! She's original, funny, classy and sassy–plus, she's talented and DOESN'T lip sinc (like, say, most everyone, including Cher). BETTE MIDLER RULESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
