High School Musical To Hit Reality TV

ABC is joining the rest of the networks by adding even more reality shows to its lineup. And, they're dipping into corporate daddy Disney's pool for talent!

Reports are surfacing that ABC is planning to release a High School Musical type of reality show, where contestants will compete in a nationwide talent hunt for the best singers.

Those that make it through will study at a music conservatory to sharpen their skills and then each week, contestants will be eliminated until a final performer is chosen.

The show will likely have cameo appearances by some of HSM's top stars. Though, we doubt Zacquisha will make an appearance. He's too above that now. Unless they pay him enough!

ABC is said to be in discussions with a production company to handle the show, though no deal has yet to be finalized.

The show is set to air this summer.

Will you watch, or are you on a HSM overload still?

Don't know, but this sounds too much like American Idol for us. We bet there will be three judges, 2 guys and 1 girl, of those one will be black or latino, one will be the 'nice' one, and the other will be the 'mean' one.

And, of course, ALL the contestants will be gay!

    it's so weird - they're everywhere! vanessa even showed up at the movie theater I go to. I guess she's filming some flick in Austin, cause last night she and some of her friends came to the alamo drafthouse. they came in too late to get seats together, talked during the movie, and one of her stupid-ass friends put her bare feet up on the table. Yes, table - alamo drafthouse is a theater/restaurant so every other row of seats has been knocked out to make room for tables so her bare feet were right where people eat.     I will have to watch, I have an 8 year old daughter and once she finds out about this show, there will be no stopping her from watching. Personally I like HSM Because it gives her something not skanky to watch but I am a bit HSM'sed Out.I can sing I think almost every song from both of the movies. This is not by choice By the way.

    We azlready got both in France our very own American Idol called La nouvelle Star and the thing they want to do like High School mUsical is called Star Academy : about 16 people are chosen to live in a mansion where they learn how to sing, how to act… and it is on air for about 4 month with someone leaving everyweek of course you can watch them everyday and plus a prime time every friday night. Actually the Star Academy really suck cause the singer are each time really bad, worst than Pop Idol but that is just me !!!

    Are they for real? Who the hell will watch this? Okay, people with no lives. COME ON! They made books about High School Musical, and I thought that was pushing it. The first movie was alright, the second one had way better music, and I'm afraid to see what the third one will bring. I think this is just going to be like American Idol, and I do think it'll have a "nice" guy, a girl, and a "bad" guy. In a way, that right there just sounds like a sappy soap opera. Wow, anyways, I know if it comes out I'll look at it, see what it's like then make my final opinion. But at of right now, It'll probably suck.

    It was Pinoy Dream Academy they did a search for filipino singers or singers of filipino descent and put them in a music school where they learned to dance and sing

    Well, they DID do something similar to this on the Disney channel a while back. Only difference was that the it was a class that had re-create the whole movie. Every single little detail. But i guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes. They'll probably even get another award for this show. Just like all the other award they've won. Can you believe that they're even nominated for FAVORITE VIDEO GAME? It's true. It's a category on Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. They're up against Guitar Hero 3, Madden NFL '08, and Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party.

    I like GH3, personally. I'm currently working with Nick in getting the word out about the awards show. It's gonna air on March 29th @ 8PM on Nick of course. My all-time favorite funny guy is going to be hosting the event a second time around. Mr. Jack Black himself. wooooo…. What will he do to these poor, poor celebrities. hmm..

    I'm really looking forward to see HSM3. I'm 16 and I like this and I do have life. I'm pretty sure that most of you will watch this and most of you like it even if you won't admit it. I mean can you beat them? No, I don't think so.
