    When I tried to download, there was an attached file (I am on a mac) which then tried to open itself (about 10% into the supposed "download" of the music).     Why are you so upset? It's his decision on the price he puts not the fans. Go check out the pricing on the ways you can get this album. I know you don't mean only with NIN. Don't you know that the label was charging close to 30-40 dollars just to get a NIN album overseas? No one is being cheap, he's being fair to everyone and he's doing it for the music. I would pay $15-$20 but, the price he gives me is the price I pay. I will probably buy four copies of it just to make it fair to him but, its not the fans fault.

    I remember reading about this a while ago. He's really mad at his record company for deliberately overcharging for his album in Australia just because they "can". I guess one of the record execs told him that they charged a ridiculous amount for the album because they know the fans would pay that amount. He was livid.
    I have to give him kudos for that. He's taking a personal loss for this, too. Most musicians would never do that, even though they're already millionairs. Finally, one who is willing to stand up for what's right.

    True, Radiohead did do this before. But not like this. Not a hint, not even a WHISPER, of this album being made was heard until the moment Nine Inch Nails chose to release it. Not a single track was leaked onto the internet beforehand, which is quite remarkable in this day and age of piracy! Imagine coming home after a hard days work with nothing to look forward to, and discovering your favorite artist just released a brand new album without any warning! I would say that the music industry could take a lesson from all this.

    trent is not doing poorly. he personally funded the entire project because he is no longer signed to any label. you can get 9 out of the 36 tracks of his new instrumental album for free. or pay $5, and get all 36 tracks downloaded plus a 40page pdf file, pay $10 get the aforementioned plus a 2-disc cd to be sent out in april, pay $75 get all of the above, plus a bluray disc and other goodies, or pay $300 and get a limited edition signed 4-disc package including bluray, sweet packaging, and other goodies.

    and the reason the site wasn't working for a while is because trent didn't expect such rabid downloading, and they've been working on putting up more servers to speed up the site. i downloaded mine last night the minute it came out, and it still took me hours. BUT IT IS WORTH IT.

    the $5 edition is available on amazon.com now too if you don't want to deal with nin.com

    and even if radiohead did it first, NIN is doing it better. they're offering several different formats including a PHYSICAL cd option… the average 2-disc album would go for upwards of $24.99 - NIN is offering it for $10.
