Constipation is Contagious!

sum41.jpg

Sum 41's caught the Avril disease!

The hasbeen pop/punkers are having trouble unloading tix to their current tour, much like You Know Who.

Deryck Whibley (aka Mr. Lavigne) and his band were supposed to 'rock' the 7,000 capacity Moncton Coliseum Complex in New Brunswick, Canada, on March 7th. However, the concert venue recently changed to the 1,200 capacity Club Oxygen.

Blame poor ticket sales for the switch!

We're told Whibley and bandmates have been having trouble selling tix for their most recent outing, not just this one date.

It could have something to do with the fact that no one bought their new album.

Just a hunch!

The answer is simple. Everyone hates the fact that Whibley married Avril. Avril is the reason why Sum41 sales has flunked.

      YAY Moncton!! haha!!!

      23

LOL…They just downsized their venue for their gig in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada as well. Halifax is 3 times the size of Moncton, yet their original venue was to hold around 3000 and they have since changed to a smaller venue that holds nearly one thousand!!

It could be said that you should take some of the blam for this. I don't know what you have against these two, but it better be good. You really put them down and for some reason people, alot of people listen to you. I happen to really like both of thier music. But maybe it's just because I'm Canadian. Oh, do you not like Canadians, is that your problem.

I live about an hour away from the Moncton coliseum. The first time Sum 41 came around, I went and it was pretty packed. They had scheduled to come back here a few months ago but they pulled out at the last minute and were replaced by Rhianna and Akon. So I'm guessing that's why the tickets are doing shit this time. They came already AND pulled out… Heck, a few of my friends bought the Sum 41 tickets when they first came out but aren't planning on getting them again because they don't want them to pull out haha.

    33. WAM says – reply to this

      33

The tickets are selling for something like $35 each….I wouldn't pay ten bucks to see them, especially at the O2. And I highly doubt that they will get close to the 1200 "capacity" - lucky to get 300! Why can't anyone GOOD come to little old NB??

      47

Come on Perez don't keep blaming the artists for lacking ticket sales. No one can really sell tickets touring since the greedy promoters and ticketmaster fees have made it impossible for music fans to go to shows anymore. It used to be that you could go to show every weekend spend anywhere from $18-$25 for seats. Places would sell out everyone made money, the bands got exposure, fans got to see their favs live blah blah blah NO MORE !!! GREEDY CORPORATE SKANKS WRECKED THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! You know that all artists are puppets to the machine!

    48. yma says – reply to this

RIP OFF BOO!! and this is their second let down, they were going to come to moncton last nov and pulled a NO SHOW. this is sucky!!

      Dear Perez,

You suck. Seriously. Moncton sells out concerts every other blue moon. It's a city of 100,000. Sure the Stones sold out and we had people from all over, but this latest barb at a Canadian artist is just another example of your lousy, obese reporting skills making presumptions and spewing your hate. You perpetuate and influence and will seriously catch a wallop with the karma bat one of these days.

I hear Jenny Craig is looking for a new spokesbuffalo, you should consider a redirection of your career efforts.

I think sum41's album is very cool. so i dont imagine why they are having trouble with sellin tickets.. probably they need a little more advertising… and also, avril is not a good influence (obviously).

anyone who lives in moncton knows that playing at the 02 is quite the downgrade. That is prolly the worst possible venue we have to offer in Moncton.

Sucks for the people that don't know what they're missing.. I saw Sum41 last week in Glasgow and Deryck Whibley is one of the most crowd-attentive singers I've ever seen!

    69. Perezaddict says – reply to this

      69

Y'a they can't even sell out in Barrie and no one comes to Barrie so bands usually sell out quick no matter who they are just because people here are so starved for entertainment. But nobody wants to see SUM 41! When they were touring with Finger 11 they were selling out because everyone wants to see Finger 11 and here the "Paralyzer" song!

    70. Laurie says – reply to this

      70

they also went from the Air Canada Centre which hold (I think) 17,000 people…to the Kool Haus, which holds about 1500. They're over.

    71. hale says – reply to this

      71

      Re: deedee
Wasn't that Van Halen? The Eagles are touring right now as far as I know.
Nevertheless, there should be a good rock concert this summer, and that's when Monctonians shell out their money.

And in regards to your comparison with the Halifax/Celine Dion fiasco; Moncton and Halifax are very different places, it's Halifax's media that trashes incoming concerts, Moncton welcomes pretty much anyone. We always have very successful outdoor concerts.

    72. Biggybee says – reply to this

      72

I saw Sum 41 when they were last in Vancouver, BC and they rocked! They played at the PNE Forum which was not even half full (the Forum holds less than 4,000 people). Most people enjoyed all the old singles, but once anything new was played the beer garden get really full. Maybe the fans just got sick and tired of them constantly cancelling shows?

    73. joe says – reply to this

      73

it has to do with the fact that like with 90% of the other bands that have come along since the 90's, they just STINK, all these 20 something bands today sound the same, like 3 chord garage bands, just makes you yearn more for the classic rock days, when people could really play instruments, not just learn 3 chords and have a career.

    76. michelethebelle says – reply to this

      76

It's called over exposure! Canada only has a handful of "well known/popular" music artists right now so they go apeshit trying to overexpose themselves to cash in - thus making the fans bored. They can only play the same venues SO many times!!

    77. zanne says – reply to this

      77

Dear Perez-A major reason the ticket sales are lagging is how bad the economy is thanks to the evil dictator. People don't have $ to pay the mortgage, much less $80 and up for tickets. These bands should understand this and get ticket prices down for the rest of us Middle class poor!

You know Mr. Perez Hilton, I have to agree. For being a Sum 41 fan since the Half an Hour of Power album, I'm pretty darn upset with this whole thing.

But seriously, Sum 41 has been struggling since "Chuck" (which happens to be really funny because he dated Avril BITCH lavinge then) and then lost their lead guitarist after the "Go Chuck Yourself" tour. Sum 41…..there were disappointments after then. (Maybe because of Avril….maybe not.) But I'm going have to say….Fuck Avril and leave Sum 41 alone.

Love you Perez Hilton, but they have nothing have to do with Avril.
