can i just say that when a celebrity is sitting in a conference room in nyc promoting goodwill for the un, it means absolutely nothing at all!!!! hundreds of celebrities are putting their names to good will causes but people are still suffering.doesnt matter how much money they donate, as good as it may be, it all depends on countries who inflict human rights to take actions! Good for her. A little known fact in relation to abused women … there are 3 times more shelters for abused animals than abused women in the US. Not that I don't like animals, I love them but, the idea that it's easier to find a place for your pet in an abused shelter than for a woman running away from a batterer (who, if finds her, then leaves her with a 75% chance of living) that's kind of sick.

Avon is one of the most generous and consistent corporate philanthropists out there. I know that in a few short years they have given hundreds of thousands of dollars for food for women suffering from breast cancer to the nutrition non-profit I work for in San Francisco, and I firmly believe that they have saved lives through improving medical outcomes for these women, many of whom can barely (or NOT at all) afford treatment, let alone have enough left over to eat properly. And eating properly in particular is beneficial for people going through intensive chemotherapy. I'm a big big fan of Avon because they have been doing what they do for a long time and as a professional fundraiser, they do it in a very clear, organized, and focused way. I think they are closer to saving the world than most corporations are.
