But which cover sold more????
Nicole's! By a lot!
Richie's cover is on track to sell 1.8 million copies. That's about 500,000 more than Aguilera's!
It would be safe to say that Xtina is a bigger star, but…
So, why did her pics sell less copies???
Why does there seem to be more interest in Harlow Winter Kate Madden? One magazine insider said part of it could come down to the moms’ fan bases. “Christina historically doesn’t do that well on covers,” said the source, who cites poor sales of her wedding photo issue in OK!, and less-than-stellar sales of her nude photo shoot in the January 2008 Marie Claire.
That might be true, but Nicole Richie doesn’t seem like an obvious home run on the cover, either. “There’s also a greater element of curiosity with Nicole,” the source conceded. “She’s gone public about being a heroin addict. Her boyfriend is covered in tattoos. By default, she’s got the more interesting baby. People want to see how she settles down. They want to see what kind of baby someone with her background has.”
Also, Christina married a "regular" fella.
Nicole, meanwhile, made sure her babydaddy was a celebrity, Joel Madden.

i just think the look of the cover for nicoles was more nicely done. christinas cover didnt have a flattering angle shot of the baby plus there were more side bars of other stories taking away from her spotlight.

The only reason why the Nicole issue sold more is that it's a double issue covering the Oscars as well. Also, Angie's on the cover with her new baby bump. I bought that particular issue and not because of Nicole, but because of the Oscar coverage. I'm sure a lot of other people were like me.

Christina is by far more talented and settled than Nicole! Nicole has a higher level of spectacle. It is the same reason Britney Spears will oversell almost anyone else right now on a cover. She is a train wreck! No one can look away. Christina has a very strong and loyal fan base, but we are more interested in her music and her Back to Basics DVD that just came out (which has been number one for some time now) than her baby pictures and her undramatic life! I wish her the best with her beautiful baby and her happy marriage, but people seem to be more interested in seeing the chaotic and unstable stars than a star doing well and living a normal lifestyle. It is sad. Christina, you are awesome and these numbers are just numbers. Your fans stand behind you and know that you have no rival when it comes to talent and beauty. Nicoles pic was way cuter. you could actually see the baby and her facial expressions were adorable. Nicole looked very serene and her makeup was done well..very simple. Christina's cover pic was not flaterring to her and you couldnt even see the babys face..he was sleeping!

Nicole sold more copies because the Oscars coverage was in her issue. That issue typically sells a lot more because people are interested in seeing what everyone wore, the gossip behind the scenes and so forth. Nicole lucked out because of that. Had it not been the Oscars issue, I don't know that she would've sold as many copies as she did.
