Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie both recently debuted their new infants to the world.
But which cover sold more????
Nicole's! By a lot!
Richie's cover is on track to sell 1.8 million copies. That's about 500,000 more than Aguilera's!
It would be safe to say that Xtina is a bigger star, but…
So, why did her pics sell less copies???
Why does there seem to be more interest in Harlow Winter Kate Madden? One magazine insider said part of it could come down to the moms’ fan bases. “Christina historically doesn’t do that well on covers,” said the source, who cites poor sales of her wedding photo issue in OK!, and less-than-stellar sales of her nude photo shoot in the January 2008 Marie Claire.
That might be true, but Nicole Richie doesn’t seem like an obvious home run on the cover, either. “There’s also a greater element of curiosity with Nicole,” the source conceded. “She’s gone public about being a heroin addict. Her boyfriend is covered in tattoos. By default, she’s got the more interesting baby. People want to see how she settles down. They want to see what kind of baby someone with her background has.”
Also, Christina married a "regular" fella.
Nicole, meanwhile, made sure her babydaddy was a celebrity, Joel Madden.
There's just more interest there!

you are all so off base…. I've had 2 little ones and my boobs looked JUST LIKE THAT !!!! She is obviously breastfeeding. Leave her be for love of god! She is a beautiful example of a new mother unlike the corupt lot of most who are more concerned woth "oh i'll breastfeed because I'll burn 500 cals a day". She is being who she is…. not caring anout what others think and in Hollyweird at this day in age takes a lot. You are all going to burn in hell. But you know I love your ass Perez.
Re: salina – That's kind of stupid. You don't even have to buy the magazine to figure that out; they're both on the cover. I think another poster had it right–it depends on what else is in their respective issues.
also, nicole is not a stuck up bitch like christina. christina is not approachable at all! nicole is! people can relate to nicole better. christina acts like she is a bit above everyone else. granted, she is the better talent but what's it worth if she's a complete bitch?

I don't think anyone makes sure of someone's status or celebrity when they fall in love with someone. I mean really fall in love with someone.
While no one has to go public with the news that they are having a baby.. it helps down the road when your on the cover of a magazine with your new baby.
Nic & Joel talked to the press and while they did not go into super detail… they allowed people a tiny look in, so when they made the cover of People.. people bought the magazine. It was simply lovely of them to pass on their baby shower gifts to new mothers that can't afford sutff.
Nic was on the double issue, but the Oscar's SUCKED ASS BAD, and I bought my copy to see pics of Nic & family.
Christina on the other hand was very private (she every right to) , but she went to the point of not saying she was with child that it came off as FUCK YOU, so while I did look at the pics of her baby.. there was nothing there that made me want to buy her copy of People.
Both babies are beyond cute !
There is a key factor here I feel. No matter who sells more covers, Christina will ALWAYS get our respect over these other hoes trying to be housewives. The way she conducts herself in the past and currently has been with more class and dignity than any of her competition. That's why she doesn't sell covers. She isn't ho-ing it up all the time. But if Christina ever chooses to do something different (like act hint hint) the world will always take her more seriously that the others…
I don't understnd people who try to let Chris down. Chris is a world-famous mom and America is proud of her. but Nic is one of the american realty show mom. Where I live, We aren't interested in Nic very well, but are interested in Chris. I think people will search Nic because of the internet scoop. MAN, BRODEN YOUR VISION !!!
Perhaps Nicole's cover sells more copies because people will characteristically be more interested in a bad girl turned good than a good (Mickey Mouse Club) girl being, well, good. 'Dirty' excepted.
Regardless if Xtina has real talent, where Nicole is famous for being famous, you don't know anything about Xtina and what I have read, it sounds like she's a beeotch and a dirty birdie. There doesn't really seem to be much there, in terms of being interesting, so why would I want to buy a magazine and have her looking like a stripper with her baby? Where, Nicole looks beautiful and she at least is interesting, has changed her life around, etc. etc. And by the way, even though she is with Madden and Xtina is with what's-his-face, I'm more interested in seeing the new mom.

Maybe it was because it was also the Oscar issue. If Nicole was on a cover without that then it probably wouldn't have sold as much.
