Buffy Eats Muffy!

Buffy's Gay! (Or at least a little bit curious.)

Buffy Summers, best known as the vampire slayer, is now experimenting with women.

In a new issue of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book series being released Wednesday, Buffy sleeps with a fellow vampire slayer, who just happens to be a woman.

That's really rare in mainstream comics, especially for a lead character.

Joss Whedon, the creator of the film, television show, and executive producer of the comic book said the story line evolved naturally.

Issue No. 12 was written by Drew Goddard, who's the screenwriter of Cloverfield. In this series, Buffy and her female friend are in bed and naked under the sheets.

“It puts the reader in this ‘Oh my God’ moment,” Whedon said during a telephone interview with The NY Times. “And it puts Buffy in an ‘Oh my God, what did I just do?’ moment.”

Whedon made sure to mention that “We’re not going to make her gay, nor are we going to take the next 50 issues explaining that she’s not. She’s young and experimenting, and did I mention open-minded? You do have to be careful about the message you’re sending out. It’s a double-edged sword. You have to be responsible, but you also have to be irresponsible or you’re not telling the best stories.”

If only we could have seen Sarah Michelle Gellar do that! HOT!

Maybe there will be a Buffy movie soon????

i must have missed the previous issue. i was reading this issue today, and as soon as i turned the page i was like, "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

so unless i missed an issue or two, this storyline has NOT evolved very slowly or smoothly. i only remember satsu making brief appearances with the other slayers.

This HAS evolved naturally. Back in the first arc of Season 8, Satsu was the one who gave Buffy the kiss of true love to awaken her from a spell. They've been spending time together more and more, and getting closer. Then they finally had a talk and Buffy found out how she really felt about her. And then this! It's so neat. It adds a new layer to Buffy.

This isn't some random publicity stunt. It's something that's naturally occurred, and is definitely true to Buffy's character.

BUFFY ROCKS! And Satsu is so cute…awwwwwe!!!! ^_^

I honestly don't see what the big deal about this is. Buffy is lonely, she's going through something. And it just so happens that Satsu is the only one who openly cares about her right now. So she experimented! So what? People do it.

And I'll be honest, I was a little angry about it when I first read the issue, but after thinking, it works for her character. Joss said she will not be gay, she just wanted to be loved.

This isn't exactly original. In the last season on TV Willow was getting it on with a slayer. But, Buffy was always in need of love and got screwed all the time (no pun intended) so it's only natural that she'd explore the other side.

I haven't read any of the comic books for Buffy, but maybe I should? I was obsessed with the movie as a kid, and later on equally so with the show. There was some definite chemistry/flirtation between Faith (Eliza Dushku….hottie) and Buffy. This was all before Willow started dating a girl. So it's really not that surprising!

I would LOVE to see another, especially if Eliza would reprise her role.

@emily remember Buffy is not that old either, she's about 26 now, still pretty young. and the whole Satsu thing has been developing slowly; Satsu woke her with the true love's kiss, and she knew it from the start, plus she told her she was flattered, but that those who love her usually end up really fucked up.
From issue #4 and upward we've learned that Buffy has been really horny lately, even thinking of fucking Xander, I guess that would be too weird, so why not try a little muff? Seems to make perfect sense to me

First off, there was already a movie, it came first then the seasons,w/the original Buff Kristy Swanson. the show leaves off where the movie ends the only thing they changed was movie Buffy was a senior they started SMG in season one as a sophmore. they cant really do another movie cause, well I wont really say, I dont want to ruin the series for those who have watched seasons 1-7, like me. i own the series and have watched them all back to back like 5 times i even got my boyfriend into it, I guess Buff being hot helped too he also likes Anya(BTFV FANS know who i'm taking bout.) anyway if Buff was going to go down it should have been w/ Willow and Kennedy. When you read between the lines of Buffy and Faith's complexed and layered relationship, this is really not a shocker. It doesn't mean Buffy is "gay" either but there was definitely sexual tension between the two, so I'm not surprised to see Buffy going for it with another slayer.
