He's the 'Stupid' One

Every sibling plays a 'role' in the family. In the Baldwin brood Alec must be the 'smart' one. His brother, Stephen, is obviously that one you only wanna see once a year - and even then, the only way you can stomach it is after spiking your egg nogg with lots of booze and taking a Valium!
Thankfully, though Alec knows how to put Stephen in his place.
The 'dumb' one made news when he called in to the Howard Stern show recently voicing his support for Mike Huckabee and voicing his displeasure with the idea of gay marriage:
"I don’t believe that gay marriage is in line with God’s Word, which is found in the Bible," says Stephen. "So, what I think doesn’t matter; what I believe is what’s in the Bible and the Bible says that gay marriage is not acceptable."
Alec responded to his brother's ignoramous comment to gay mag The Advocate, saying:
"Well, in the modern political world, people like that — whether or not I'm related to them — only help us raise money. They want to ban gay marriage because those people are incapable of having a biological family — that's their only argument. You can ban gay marriage, but if you're going to make it fair, then you have to ban marriage for everybody else who won't produce children. But they just single out groups of people that they hate."
See…there's more to Alec than scary, verbally abusive daddy! Yay!

Stephen feels he has a moral obligation, a "higher calling," if you will - out of his Christian faith - to be honest and speak what he believes is the truth. HE's quoting the Bible, which has numerous versions. It was written 2000 years ago. Mormons have beliefs, Muslims have beliefs too. The thing is, when these religions try to "force" their beliefs on others, it results in calamity. Hence, Stephen's problems. He's a smart cookie though - did you see him on The Apprentice?

Perez, I thought you said you were turning 30? That can't be possible because if you were an adult, you wouldn't label Stephen Baldwin as "stupid" or "dumb"because he disagreed with you. I completely agree with Stephen on the gay marriage thing. Alec was being ridiculous when he claims people like Stephen "hate" certain groups that they don't understand. Yeah, I am a Christian. Completely love Jesus. And I think that G/L should be able to get married. I WISH my sister could marry the gal she's been with for longer than I have been married. I also think that being gay ISN'T a choice. It's how they were born. If you're hetero, you don't 'choose' that, do you? Nope. You just are. Who would 'choose' to be beaten up, yelled at, hated, shunned, laughed at? No one would CHOOSE that life. Gays/Lesbians are who they are, and while I don't like all of them (who likes EVERYONE, anyway?) I DO love and am friends with the ones in my life.
I think gays are here to help us understand and love the differences in each other. I could NEVER not love my sister. She's a wonderful CHRISTIAN REPUBLICAN lesbian. She knows where she stands with God and that God loves her despite her faults (as He loves ALL of us despite our many faults - and being Gay isn't one of hers btw!) I do not believe in gay marriage but I believe they should have the same rights as everyone else. Gays are people too and to be honest I have learned alot from gay men and women.
