The second season of Courtney Cox's FX show, Dirt, premiered on Sunday to dismal ratings.

Dirt averaged 1.7 million total viewers at 10 p.m. Sunday, a 54 percent slide from the 3.7 million who tuned in for the series premiere in January 2007.

Could Courtney be the next victim of the Friends curse?

thanks because no one knew that the show was premiering. i found it flipping through the channels. i liked the premier when i finally found it again and could watch it from beginning to end. it focused on lucy's character and friendship with the photographer, for all those people who need sex to pay attention!! she got stabbed, give her time! my! i guess sex always triumphs over character development and plot!

I absolutely love this show. Well written and intelligent. Shows a different side of courtney as well. The problem with the ratings is the promotion. I didn't even know the new season was happening. My Tivo caught it since I still had the show in my program watch list - otherwise I would have never seen it. Maybe the issue is the channel. I mean, who watches FX anyway?

Dirt has been one of my favorite shows since episode one. The article about its ratings is slightly deceiving as, if I can recall correctly, the show averaged about a 1.7 for most of its first season with the exception of the premier. Plus, let's not forget, they moved which night it was on. This means almost the entire fan base followed it to a new night. What was in that slot on FX before? Was it getting a 1.7? If not the network should have no problems with this.

I loved the first season of Dirt - LOVED it. Such a guilty pleasure and pure dirty pleasure. But, this season's opener? Snooze-fest. Poorly acted, poorly written, and just boring. It had no rythm - no susense, nothing interesting, grabbing, engaging. I love Courteney Cox and am so hoping she can pull it off, but, so far, this season has been a huge disappointment. If the episodes continue like the last one, I doubt viewers will make it past a couple more pity viewings.

I don't know about a Friends curse, but I do know that this show sucks. The acting is wooden, the stories/scripts are banal, and the characters are one-dimensional - particularly Courtney's character. It's really bad all around, but not bad enough to become a guilty pleasure.

These "Friends" thought they were untouchable when their shitty sitcom was on tv. I never understood the fascination with the show, by the way, I thought it was medicore at best. Ever since they have, one by one, disappeared or had disappointing careers. 5 down, one to go: Jennifer and her flop of a film career (and yes, they have been flops). I've never even watched it because she sits there and talks trash about the paps when it's not on her terms. But, let's make as much money exploiting (although in fiction) the same concept. I think it's a great concept, but coming directly from a celebrity who has been very public about her hatred for the paps to turn around and try to benefit from it is hypocritical.

The show was awful and is STILL awful. A one hour dramedy about gossip should write itself but somehow "Dirt" manages to be dull, lifeless, and sometimes, right down boring. Cox, the only "Friend" never to be nominated for an Emmy, shows her lack of acting through horrific plastic surgery. (Two words….Joker's Sister) The most irritating thing or person about the show is mentally unstable photographer and her so-called conscience. I was surprised the show was even renewed after the first rotten season.
