Airborne is shit!!!! The company has just settled a class action lawsuit for $23 million!!!!
"There's no credible evidence that what's in Airborne can prevent colds or protect you from a germy environment," David Schardt, a nutritionist at the Center for Science in the Public Interest, said in a written statement this week. "Airborne is basically an overpriced, run-of-the-mill vitamin pill that's been cleverly, but deceptively, marketed."
We feel lied to!!!!!
The herbal supplement of vitamins and minz was created back in 1999 with the intent of helping to fight off colds.
It was invented by Victoria Knight-McDowell, a second-grade teacher who according to the product's site, "studied the benefits herbal therapies used in Eastern Medicine." The company also claimed it "boosts the immune system with seven herbal extracts and a proprietary blend of vitamins, electrolytes, amino acids and antioxidants."
Back in March 2006, after an ABC News report revealed that the company's clinical trials were not conducted by doctors or even scientists, Airborne changed their advertising campaign when a plaintiff filed suit against them.
Turns out the "clinical trials" were just conducted by two random individuals!
Shortly after, advertisements for Airborne stopped mentioning the clinical studies and the cold-curing claims. Instead, Airborne began advertising itself as helping to boost the body's immune systems.
Airborne will now be fighting off cash collectors for a total of $23.3 million to settle the class-action lawsuit brought against them.
Those suing claim the company provided false advertising since it could not be proven that Airborne actually helps prevent colds.
Then in late 2006 the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), a non-profit advocacy group, joined the suit as co-counsel against Airborne. Later in 2007 the FTC and some attorney generals began investigating the cold-preventing claims as well.
The CSPI said the Airborne company will have to refund money to consumers who bought its product, and it will pay for advertisements in large publications with instructions on how to get refunded.

My friend used to be an assistant/bookeeper for that lady. They worked out of an office in her house, even shipping product from it. She had horror stories about that job. The woman couldn't keep track of shit and how she could run a multi-million dollar company out of a extra bedroom…. Oh, the pay was $12 an hour…. My friend lasted about 4 months. On the upside, I had cases of Airborne for days. Not suprised that she was sued and lost. She may be a school teacher, but she's not a smart buisness owner.

Okay, I knew this forever ago. My mom would insist I take those gingery-tasting tablets, and I saw right through the scam before I even tried it. I knew they would do shit. The only tangible, medicinal benefits I could try to find in them were that they act as a great placebo. Having a couple more plants and herbs and crap in one's system is definetly NOT going to stop you from getting a cold. But staying hydrated, excercising, eating right, and being positive definetly will.

I take a ton of vitamin C, and I definitely notice the difference when I take airborne as well. The herbal ingredients do make me feel more energized. I never believed it would completely prevent me from getting sick though (obviously).

ima pharmacist and think the law-suit is lame. we all know there is no cure for the flu/common cold…all you can do in life is to vaccinate and practice good hygiene (wash hands, sterilize phones etc). true, airbourne is not a cure but it has all the ingredients to help you boost up your own immunity. i am exposed to sick ppl all the time and this stuff for us is more about prevention; so to all the haters: if there is a pill to cure stupidity and it doesn't work, you only have yourself to blame

i think it's really sad and pathetic that someone would sue the makers of this product! it's once again lawyers looking for money and people taking advantage of the system. my family often takes airborne 2-3 times a day when one of us starts feeling icky and it greatly shortens the time we get colds. it's true it doesn't necessarily pretend someone from getting a cold, and there's NO cold cure, anyone who thinks this is a magic bullet against colds is just a moron!! it's simply an easy way to boost your immune system and help shorten the time span of a cold. it's an herbal remedy for those of us who don't wish to take large quantities of over the counter drugs to lessen the symptoms of a cold without actually helping to stop it.
If that's the case, then they should discontinue it.

I've been taking vitamin C and zinc for years when I've felt a cold coming on. When Airborne came out, I switched to that. Washing hands a lot during cold season, and gargling/snorting warm, salty water also seem to help.
Maybe there's no scientific proof as of yet that these remedies are useful, but I TRULY believe that they help to lessen the severity and duration of colds. Personally, I will continue to take Airborne whenever I'm in "germy" situations for extended periods of time, or when I get the itchy feeling in my throat that tells me I'm getting a cold.
The guy who sued airborne is an asshole, and the jury who awarded the settlement are idiots because as everybody already knows, THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE COMMON COLD!!!

Airborne is not a cure, but the vitamins boost your immune system and lessen the length of the cold. It works as long as you don't use it every damn day. It never promised anything more than a booster. In fact, it's more effective than 99% of the useless crap out there. There are no miracle cures, and this is no exception. But it helps.

If you go outside you can catch one and there is no way to prevent it from happening.
All you can do is attempt to stay healthy and if you do feel you are coming down with something aside from the obvious Vitamin C you should also drink vitamin water with antiocidents.

when your immune system is down (ie: when you have a cold or feel a cold coming on) taking vitamins will help raise it. Thus, taking airborne MIGHT help fight your cold. Of course it is not going to get rid of it, but taking vitamins will boost your system.
