A new report claims that actor Patrick Swayze had a filthy habit of smoking three packs of cigarettes a day.
We hope that's not true.
Any sane person would know THAT IS TOO MUCH.

INSIDE EDITION has uncovered Patrick Swayze had a three pack a day cigarette habit. The habit was so bad it was listed as a partial factor in the cause of a plane crash Swayze was involved in by the National Transit Safety Board in 2000. The report reveals Swayze was flying his plane when he became physically impaired in the cockpit which authorities said may have been caused by the cumulative effects of carbon monoxide by-products from the engine and from tobacco use.

According to the American Cancer Society previous studies have shown that smoking is responsible for about one-third of pancreatic cancer deaths. Studies reveal heavy smoking may damage the pancreas before cancer develops leaving the damaged pancreas more susceptible and at a greater risk of developing cancer.

While yes, smoking causes cancer, it had nothing to do with his Pancreatic cancer. And his smoking had as much to do with the plane crash as it would have with him smoking and driving a car. Only the car would have killed probably even more people. People have the right to choose. I just don't understand why people continue to smoke - it so obviously kills. I can't even count how many star's lives were cut short due to smoking - Humphrey Bogart, Lana Turner and Desi Arnaz to name just a few.

Smoking is associated with lung cancer not pancreatic cancer. Smoking IS a bad habit and it does kill but I don't think its the case here..but does anyone really know WHAT causes cancer besides smoking? I only hope a cure is found soon.

I believe kids and adults alike should be educated about the ill effects of smoking, but using someone as an example, especially someone who is still ALIVE and has not publicly revealed that his cancer is smoking related is thoughtless and unquantified. Many people get many different types of cancer for different reasons. My grandfather died from pancreatic cancer and had not one cigarette his entire life!

Do a search on Patrick Swayze plane crash. The NTSB report did note that heavy smoking was a contributing factor in the plane crash and they specifically stated heavy. While I'm sorry for his illness and he doesn't deserve it, others do need to take note that smoking does cause a variety of cancer and it's not a pretty nor pleasant way to die.

No personal offense intended to him as I really like him and feel sad about his current health situation, but truly the cigarettes are also the reason why he looks more like 65 than 55. He hasn't aged very well though he's been a fit dancer, etc. Cigarettes wreak havoc on the facial skin. Several people I dearly love smoke like chiimneys and it makes me so sad. That's one dirty habit that I just don't get at all. I'll never see the appeal to picking the things up in the first place, much less allowing one's self to get addicted to them. At least drugs and alcohol give you a relaxing buzz but cigarettes do absolutely nothing but make you smell badly. Why are so many people willing to surrender years off of their lives to smoke them? Blech.

Perez you live in one of the most dirtiest, gross, smog ridden, over populated cities I have ever had the misfortune of visiting, I think smoking is the least of your worries.
My mom dead at 51 and my father-in-law dead at 55 from smoking, both sudden heart attacks attributed to their habit. Now my dad is over 80 as is my mother-in-law,…..both alone with no partner to share the last 30 or so years of their lives with. Kinda sad even more for those left behind.
