and the problem with her saying this was what? the gay lifestyle is viewed in Bibical scripture as an abomination. she's correct. that public schools are teaching values to students which may or may not be contrary to the values of their parents. true dat! just because you don't particularly like what she said doesn't mean what she said was false.

    Totally agree with Ms. Sally!!!

    1308

Living in Oklahoma, this makes me angry! I have too many friends who are gay. Why judge? You want to pick on someone, let's try child molestors, why don't you pick on them. If you want to rid society of a group of people, lets go with child molestors - or ignorant politicians. I'm good either way!

    what a disgrace…

    1310

i thought it was supposed to be "Love thy Neighbour", not "love thy neighbour, unless he is gay..". I understand that she has the right to her opinions, but as someone who has alot of power she should think more before she talks. That is really shameful..

  11. angelina says – reply to this

She does not speak for the entire state of Oklahoma.

Sweetheart not so long ago dames like you weren't even allowed to vote let alone hold public office. Aren't you glad that people stood up and demanded equal rights back then you stupid bitch? Everybody's freaking equal. Men and woman, black and white, gay and straight and unfortaunately ignorant and the informed…
So glad you have the power to make life more difficult and hurtful for decent people.

  13. DIANA says – reply to this

    1313

I EMAILED SALLY - THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOU BIBLE THUMPING BAPTISTS WHO HATE GAYS IS THAT YOU CAN NEGOTIATE WITH A TERRORIST. She should be ahamed of herself.

  14. AmandaC says – reply to this

    1314

Wow. I was completely shocked to hear those words come out of her mouth. Its crazy and unfortunate but there are TONS of people who spread this ignorance out there. And for those who keep posting more words of HATE about the gay population, why are you on perezhilton.com then? Why are you on a website run by a PROUD gay man? It is because of people like you that ignorance thrives in this country. People who CHASE stories like this just so you can put your two cents in. Comparing homosexuality to terrorism?? Give me a break. Ignorance is alive and well.

    1315

This woman's ugly remarks reflect horribly not only on the state of Oklahoma, but on our nation.

The only people I have ever known to push an agenda or a lifestyle are the right-wing Christian fundamentalists. What they too often seem to forget is that all Americans are not Christians who believe that the bible is the word of God.

As for her equating homosexuality with terrorism? Tell that to the families of the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing and September 11.

Sally Kern is a perfect example of what is wrong with America.

    Shame on her!

  16. Dawgwalker says – reply to this

    1316

I am disgusted and ashamed for her. It still seems that the older generation is still closed minded and seems to refuse…….well reality. But when she related homosexuality to cancer that blew me over the edge! How unexceptable, expecially for a woman of the government. And there is no way in h*ll homosexuality is more of a threat than terrorism, she needs to see a psycho therapist, sorry…..actually not sorry…….it needs to happen. Thanks Perez!

  37. Marc says – reply to this

    1337

the only thing distroying this nation are people like her!!
    she's crazy

  38. Traditionalist says – reply to this

    1338

She isn't wrong in her assertions, she didn't condemn gays or anything, what she was standing up for is protecting children from being indoctrinated into a system that isn't traditional. Homosexuality is a sin, we can't legislate it but we can be understanding. Look at the book of Romans, it is in the middle of 27 other sins that we all are guilty of, but you don't hear any of those sins being pushed for acceptance. Don't get down on her, she is only speaking the truth. I don't want my kids growing up thinking its okay to like another boy or another girl, it isn't an option. They should have a choice.

    1339

This is a portion of what i emailed to sallykern@okhouse.gov

You have the constitutional right to voice your opinion, but
you also have the responsibility to serve ALL of the people that you
represent, GAY, STRAIGHT, LESBIAN, BI, TRANSGENDER, WHITE, BLACK,
REDNECK, OR A BIG FLAMING DRAG QUEEN.

I AM GAY! I HAVE THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE
    PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

I don't remember any Gay person flying airplanes into
buildings or blowing up the Murrah building….last time I look I
though it was Terrorists and a straight, white man. I feel sorry
for you, you are suppose to spreading love and delivering a message,
christians like yourself turn more people away from God than ANY
other group of people….and that's sad.

There is no word in biblical Greek or Hebrew that is equivalent to
the English word homosexual. The word was coined ony about 100
years ago and first appeared in the Bible in the 1946 Revised
    Standard Version.

    1344

Sally Kern is an embarrassment to Oklahoma and to the United States. She's obviously in need of mental help.

  45. Jo says – reply to this

    1345

This opinion was sent to our gal Sal…

    Two things… Okay, maybe three.

    1. Whatever happened to, “Judge not, lest ye be judged?” (I just heard your judgment on homosexuality)
    2. When you say anything and bridge it with the word “but,” you just negated anything that precedes the word “but” (i.e., I’m not anti, I’m not gay bashing, but…”)
    3. You said, “No society totally embraced homosexual society…” Well, it’s been going on since Cane and Abel were Adam & Eve’s sons… It’s also part of animal society – if you study nature’s ways beyond the human species. It’s not prevalent, it just exists… as do the animals that practice it, including the human one.

I’m heterosexual, so this isn’t from a homosexual person. I allow others to live their lives in accordance with their own beliefs, regardless of religious dogma, ethnic preferences, or sexual orientation… Orientation ~ that’s the operative word. It’s not sexual dogma, it’s sexual orientation… aka biology.

When you began that “I’m probably putting my own self in danger,” you were right. The danger is from your own thoughts, though, not the actions of others.

  46. Embarrassed_Oklahoman says – reply to this

    1346

I'm honestly ashamed to say that I am from Oklahoma, just because of her. Unfortunately, there are a plethora of people here who share her view on homosexuality. Maybe, Sally Kern, you should worry about something REALLY important, like maybe teen pregnancy. Go to Noble, Oklahoma - hell, look up the statistics on teen pregnancy there. Rather than hating on homosexuals, you should be concerned with the fact that Noble has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the nation. There are much more important issues than whether people are gay. That's between them and God - therefore you shouldn't judge them.

  47. Amanda says – reply to this

    1347

Sad… The scary thing is, people believe that homosexuality is a choice… That homosexuals choose to be what they are. We do not. We are what we are. Did Sally Kern chose to be heterosexual, if she is indeed heterosexual? No. And as for teaching children that being gay is OK…. Why not? Those children should have the right to come to their own conclusions regarding homosexuality. I mean, do people really believe that you can be turned gay? Is heterosexuality that weak that children can be turned gay merely by being taught about homosexuality or the LGBT community? No. Everyone has the right to believe what they want, but this ill-informed rant spreads hatred, contrary to what the teachings of Christianity influence. And to everyone who says gays are going to hell, well why not let your God judge us and let us live in peace and safety. We are human beings, just like you.

    Re: sweetangel
We judge people all the time based on there prsonal behavior. We have laws aginst stealing and murder. Those people found guilty of that are imprisioned. People who are bad credit risks pay high interest rates. The world if full of rightfully thinking discrimination… Hmm, but when it comes to sexual acts people throw our the "seperation of church and state"… Actually the separate exists to keep the state out of the church. NO ESTABLISHED CHURCH. Look it up people. People have the right to brong to the table their thoughts , values and brielfs. If you don't, you agrgument has no starting point and makes absolutely no sense.

This is the problem with religion. Religious people are so closed minded and delusional. I lived in Oklahoma for 29 years. It is definately considered the bible belt, but don't blame the state.. blame the ignorant individual. Religion is killing the US.. not the gays. This is why we are at war.

    Good day.

  55. Sarah says – reply to this

    1355

To all of you that are just now deciding they are "SHAMED TO BE FROM OKLAHOMA" WTF? Are you really admitting you are allowing one individual to represent the state of Oklahoma? One person?? There are terrible people all over the US. You can't judge a state by one ignorant individual. If you are ashamed of OK from just one stupid bitch, then get the hell out. There are plenty of other states to go to. Sure, move to Texas.. then figure out that George W. Bush claims that place.. then pack your bags again my friend, because you will be ashamed of that place too.

I have lived in Oklahoma my whole 23 yrs and love this state BUT some of the old fashioned values that this state lives by aren't always the best. I personally do NOT share her views but I know many who do. The sad thing is I haven't heard anything about this on ANY of our local news stations…..ODD…..

Sally Kern … she is just yet another closed minded politician who is clueless about humanity in general. She should have just listed every race, the fat, thin, tall, short people in this world too. We are all the same- regardless of sexual orientation, race, physical characteristics, or religion. We all want a roof over our heads, family and friends, and to enjoy our lives. She can feel how she wants, she can voice her beliefs, but she cannot say that gays live a deadly lifestyle. What are the chances that she has a direct gay family member, works directly with homosexuals, likes to be waited on by homosexuals, purchases products from them, is served a fancy meal by a homosexual that is cooked by a homosexual in the restaurant that is owned by a homosexual. …ha we won't even go into the odds - because we are special and we have gaydar and can pick "them" out instantly and we know that the odds are high. Sally, Sally, Sally… small like minded people who choose to blame groups for failures in leadership are the leading the people down a "deadly" path.

  84. dk says – reply to this

    1384

Gee, I hate to defuse one of the gay movements most potent tricks to silence opponents, but simply saying the act of homosexuality is abnormal and wrong is NOT advocating "hate" and "violence" against gays.
If a parent tells their child it's wrong to lie, and the child is wrong for doing it, are they "hate-mongers"?
A retarded chimp would be able to tell that putting your dick in the anal canal of a man to simulate sex with a woman isn't what God/nature intended.
The only reason a portion of society has accepted this as normal is because the very organized, political gays in mass media and school leadership have pummeled us with movies, TV shows, and lectures: this is nothing more than propaganda.
The rest of us have been threatened into silence for fear of being labeled "hateful" or for advocating violence against gays.
    WAKE-UP, PEOPLE!!!
Start to question exactly why you believe such ab-normalcy is, in fact, normal.
If you don't, we'll have to start trying to understand the feelings and the point of view of people who want to have sex with children.

I just taught grade 10 Canadian history, and did a section on the holocaust, and this sounds exactly like the arguements that Hitler used to justify the murder of over 6 million Jewish people. Thos who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

The most appalling thing is that not only does she bash gays, she also says that they are more of a threat then ISLAM. A religion? Last time I checked, Islam was not a problem, terrorism was.
It is NOT ok for someone to talk like this about gays…if you take out the word gay/homosexual and put in a different word, such as "Jew" or "Black" or "Female" or whatever, it would not be allowed…yet this is?

Hah! People in Oklahoma ARE ashamed of her. She's a complete douche, she's probably bitter because her husband has a "wide stance"
