The Psychiatrist Did It!

wenn1725972.jpg

Apparently, Heather Locklear's psychiatrist was the one that phoned police Saturday night when she feared for Heather's safety.

If she wasn't suicidal before, she may be now that everybody thinks she's crazy!

After speaking with Locklear on the phone, the psychiatrist called 911 because she suspected Heather was upset and believed she might have overdossed on anti-depression medication.

The call was listed as a suicide attempt, and paramedics were dispatched.

Luckily when they arrived, Heather was OK.

Let's hope she really is OK and not messing around with any type of pills.

Talk about your depression, don't drown it away with meds!

Didn't know she was having issues. That's too bad but here's a tip for you. Get a normal life. Dating and marrying rock stars is not normal and never works. It can't work. Period.
Find a nice investment banker or hedge fund manager. Show biz folk do not live in reality and are probably the most fucked up people on earth so why would you want to marry another one time after time? Come back to earth where the rest of us live.

Perez did not say, "don't take meds", rather, he said "don't drown in meds". That is different. Drown means overdosing in meds. No one should overdose in meds and think of it as last resort.

Dear Perez and everyone else who may read this IF YOUR NOT A PSYCHIATRIST OR ACTUALLY SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION DON'T ACT LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT IT LIKE!! Depression is a REAL disease like cancer or HIV. It not something you can always treat with pills, and I mean medication. So if you have a problem with medication why don't you go all preechy when it comes to cancer treatment or other medication?? If I'd listen to your advice Perez about throwing away my pills I'd litterary die. So please don't act like you know anything about this Perez. Thanks

Boo-fucking-hoo. What does Heather Locklear have to be depressed about?
She needs to donate some cash to charity or spend some quality time doing some volunteer work and get out of her Self so she can see that she is incredibly lucky and that there are much bigger issues at hand.

Talk therapy alone does NOT get rid of severe depression/major depressive disorder. NOR do pills by themselves.

THEY MUST BE USED IN TANDEM!!!

Seriously, this is one point I must totally disagree with Perez on. It is very, very dangerous to tell people to not take their meds if they're extremely depressed–trust me on this one. Please, people, don't comment on these kinds of things unless you've LIVED THROUGH THEM!!

She had the love of her life snatched from her and she's a legend in Hollywood. She, like Owen Wilson, have experienced fame first hand. And you know what? It ain't what it's cracked up to be. Look at Britney. Stay focused. You're right Perez. Talking about one's depression is the step to curing it. Not more meds and numbing yourself. I've worked for the suicide prevention hot line in San Diego and know this to be true. If only people had a crystal ball and could visualize how fantastic the future could be for them. EVERY DAY IS A GIFT, THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED, "THE PRESENT." Live it, breath it, Love it!

    62

Have you ever been severely depressed? I doubt it, because, if so, you'd KNOW that talk therapy alone IS NOT A CURE, nor does it help that much! Many antidepressants that are out now DO NOT NUMB THE PAIN–trust me. I tried talk therapy for TWO YEARS and never saw a light until I combined it with medication. It is impossible to look to the future when you are SOOO SEVERELY DEPRESSED and suicidal you can't see anything positive. I sincerely hope that you've never told anyone who's called in to stop their meds!!

Do the words "chemical imbalance" mean anything to you? Why do you think people take meds? You could be the richest and/or best-looking person out there and still be depressed–it's a disease!!

  65. deedee says – reply to this
    65

Didn't Richie Samora dump her for Denise Richards? Yuk…..Heather deserves better. She should look at getting a therapist that will focus on what constitutes healthy relationships. So the next time she knows what she is getting herself into. The combination of cognitive behavioural therapy and daily exercise has been proven to be as effective as antidepressants. I bet Heather is peri menopausal and having major hormone shifts. In which case hormones not antidepressants.

    66

I can't believe some of the ignorant comments that have been left here! Open your minds, people. You can have everything and still be depressed. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance. Meds are used to create a balance again.

As for Perez's very Tom Cruise-ish meds comment- I hope you didn't mean it the way it came out. It is important that people with depression know that taking medication is ok. There is nothing wrong with being medicated, as long as you do it properly. Its comments like these that can stop people from seeking treatment or accepting medication as part of their treatment. Don't comment on what you don't know.

  67. velmakelleeeeeeeeee says – reply to this
    67

As someone who has suffered from clinical depression, I agree that talking about it is indeed very important, but meds really help if they're used properly. They don't "drown" anything away, they can help to restore chemical balance in the brain. Many people just don't get that depression (the clinical kind) is not just a "hey cheer up" kind of thing!

    68

    Re: deedee
CBT and exercise are two key ingredients, but depending on which studies you look at–anyone can cherry-pick to find results to back them up! Some people simply will not get better without medication. Modifying behaviors and thinking patterns helps, as do the chemicals released during exercise. As for your statment about "being proven"–again, you can find a study out there to back just about anything. Until you've lived with MDD for several years, and have tried combinations of absolutely anything, you cannot say what will work for everyone. Just as everyone has different tastes, everyone has different things that truly work for them. As for HRT–you need to be careful about that, too, since that can be incredbily dangerous to some women! Why would you advise that, after so many doctors have cut back on prescribing it for good reason? People need to work with their doctors, no matter what.

This is so shocking…I never would have thought that Heather was anything but happy-go-lucky. She is like Owen Wilson in that it seems everyone really likes them and they seem like they have it all but they're depressed anyhow. God, where does that leave the rest of us? I hope she feels better soon…she's an awesome lady and she has so much going for her! Good luck Heather!!

    70

While I agree that overdosing is obviously stupid, your end comment was ridiculously out of line. A couple of my super close friends have deepression and anti-depressants are a key part of treatment for many people. Seeing as I assume you don't have a medical degree so I doubt you have the right to make such incredibly misinformed comments like that. Next time try doing some research on antidepressants before you speak. Otherwise you just seem exactly like tom cruise when he said postpartum depression could be cured with vitamins.
