Though she may be opposed to homosexuals in whatever way she is, as someone who represents a large group of people, she should watch how she says certain things. Though most of you feel she shouldn't have to apologize for what she said, you should all feel she should apologize for how she said it.

You should be one of the first to defend free speech. She is not going to care what others outside her district feel. Re: Becky – that's ridiculous. just because it was within her constitutional rights to make that speech does not mean her opinions should be accepted and go uncontested. america is a DEMOCRACY and was largely built on the ideal that people should be allowed to push their own political/moral/whatever agendas and have the freedom to disagree with and even overthrow their government. people offended by her comments (myself included) have every right (even an OBLIGATION as americans) to express their outrage and dissatisfaction by demanding an apology.
This is what living in Oklahoma is like. Tulsa has a huge gay population - almost the second largest in the country - and still people act this way. The gay population makes up so much of the economy here in Oklahoma yet people are still backass bible thumping rednecks about it.

wtf is with the freedom of speech comments. Of COURSE she has freedom of speech. No one is saying otherwise! Just as Perez is often held accountable for things he posts (like the rebuttals in this very post), so should she. If you agree with her, let her know. If you disagree and feel strongly about it, let her know! She's a public figure speaking to people in a way that suggests that she's educating them on something. It is the publics right to respond.
