Oh give me a break! Stick to what you know - being a low-life celebrity ass licker. Don't mess with the seriousness that is the autism epidemic. People, go get educated elsewhere, not here!

THANK YOU PEREZ! This is such an important issue and us parents of Autistic kids understand the kind of exposure you can bring to this ignored epidemic. Thank you for putting this subject on your site as it can only bring positive results - education for your readers and hopefully some funding as well. Keep using your power & influence for good (as well as the oh-so-funny evil . . . LOL!)!

Perez- your awesome!!! My nephew has autism and my brother is in Washington D.C. for the past 5 days speaking with congress like they do every year to raise more awareness and more money for this epidemic that many have closed their eyes to. Thank you for using this as not only a gossip site but also as a platform to enlighten people and cause conversation on truly important issues like autism…

Perez Speaks! When you speak, people listen! April will be Autism Awareness month so keep speaking. Sometimes trying to get attention for autism feels like "Horton Hears a Who" when they all band together saying "We are here, we are here, we are here!" The magnitude of autism incidents continue to grow, now 1 in 150 and affect boys over girls 4:1.

This organization is awesome! However, I wish there were more resources available for single moms, Iam a single mom with a son with Aspergers which is a form of high functioning autism. He is 13 and extremely volatile and violent. I wish we had respite care and counselors or teachers to come to the home and teach coping/life skills beyond what I am able to teach him. If anyone knows of any info for the Sierra Vista, AZ area, let me know! Thanks!

Thank you for posting this Perez. My son is autistic, and we do need a cure, or at least understanding to why it happens and what it really means. So many parents just want closure and a real hope of where our children will be as adults. I am so glad to see you supporting this here, really Perez, you have made my day, I appreciate it so much.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH PEREZ!! This trully means alot to me! Being a mother of a 3 year old child who has Autism, It gets hard having to explain to people exactly what Autism is Autism always seems to be compared to the movie Rain Man. Thankfully my sons condition is not severe. We just got news from the neurologist this week that my son will outgrow his Autism!! We couldnt be more happier.

The rates of autism are now 1 in 150 and 1 in 94 for boys! It is one of the most devestating disorders and the rates of prevalence are absolutely alarming.

Thank you for raising awareness of Autism. This is a disorder that is still a total mystery. My son was diagnosed at the age of 3, he is 11 now. Every day is a new challenge. I am very active in the Autism Speaks Walk Now Events. The next one I will be particapating in is on September 27th. My team is called "DREW'S CLUES". Get involved people!!!! With a child being diagnosed every 20 minute the odds are that the next one may be your kid!!

      I have conflicted feelings here.
I have two autistic children, both under 3. I like when people try to make others aware of autism, because generally when people see my children, they mumble things about 'the retarded kids', or try to tell me that "your kids just aren't how they should be". Ignorance.
However… I don't know. I really just don't like the idea of Perez acting as if autism matters to him. That's just… sick.

Re: Kristina – Thank you I agree, this seems so fake… Any awareness is great he is just not the right person to support the cause. Best of luck, to you and your children K.

I've never commented before, even though I go on your blog religiously, but I was SO touched by your post that I felt like I needed to comment for the first time. I am a Play Therapist for autistic children and I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH PEREZ for using your blog to bring awareness about this growing epidemic. I hope that the link you provided gives others a look into the world of autism and hopefully the donations it needs.

Donate more to the billion dollar drug companies for "research"? It is their drugs that cause autisim and a host of other diseases as well as sids and other forms of death in children. Wake the freak up, people!

Perez, I've never commented before now. You are awesome. The concept you are pursuing is called microvolunteering. Beth Kanter beth.typepad.com raised $86,000 for Cambodian orphans simply using social media, facebook, twitter. Also check out mobilevoter.com. You can do the same! Yay Perez, hope I see you at SXSW!

Good job Perez on addressing this important issue. As a mother and a gossip junkie, I can tell you that this problem is huge! I know soooo many kids with this disorder and have seen the toll it takes on families. If you are young and childless it is sad but true that eventually someone in your family will be diagonosed when you get older and start your family. I cannot think of any of my peers that are not touched by this disorder, their own child or a niece or nephew or even a neighbor. There is no cure and therapies can run up to $60,000. per year. Insurance does not cover most therapies. Therapy is also very time consuming and takes up most of the day. If you have a child with autism it will take over your life. We need to support this cause! Donate yes but also there needs to be more funding from our government for treatment. Someone needs to help these familes in crisis.
