Nick Lachey is taking a break from vacationing!
The former boybander is rejoining the MTV fold. The network just picked up Nick's new 'unscripted' (a.k.a reality) pilot.
Thankfully, though, he won't be in it!
The untitled show will revolve around the students at his alma mater, the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, OH.
The reality show will supposedly 'organically' blend performances by the students into the 'story' the show is telling. For example, it might feature students breaking out into dance in the cafeteria or use a student's practice session on his or her instrument as the soundtrack for a scene.
An unscripted Fame? Good luck trying to capture 'spontaneity' in one take!
Nick is probs thanking God for MTV! It totes brought him true 'fame' via the Newlyweds show! Can MTV deliver again? You know he'll be making surprise visits to the school for some exposure that he's not getting!

I think that it's great that he wants to bring the spotlight to students in his hometown…I'm not sure that it will make for a popular t.v. show, but hopefully the students will benefit from it!

be prepared…..you "celebrity" status will eventually fade and the thud of your "career" as it hits the ground will be heard round the internet.
It was my understanding that he and ManilaFolders get paid to vacation, that they are recruited and comped and paid by the resorts that they visit, just for the publicity. I don't know about you all, but for me, that would be a turn-off, and I would avoid anywhere that these two had stayed!!!!
That show will BOMB it WON'T be worth watching. Nick GO BACK TO SINGING or BE A SPORTS ANNOUNCER.

I am from Cincy, and SCPA is actually a very good school. I know many very talented people who attended it. It is better subject matter for a reality show than Real World losers running around obstacle courses, or Diddy's loser wannabe bands. The audition process for the school is pretty rigorous, so the people on this show should actually have genuine abilities.

I am a dancer too, and many of my friends go to SCPA. I know for a fact that many of their dance students have gotten into the most prestigious ballet companies in the country. Actually, all the people on the show happen to be my friends. I don't know how the show will go, but they are talented people and I don't think anyone should personally comment on them without knowing them.
It's a lot better of an idea that the Real World/Super Sweet Sixteen/about half the shows on MTV crap.

Okay, first of all, I am an Alumna of SCPA, and because of that school my college education is pretty much paid for. And the few who know what they're talking about are right. That show is much better than half of the trash that MTV does broadcast. I cannot say whether or not it will be as popular because this is America, and sadly, most just do not care about such issues (probably half the people on this message board). But SCPA is a GREAT school, and anyone who says otherwise clearly has no idea what they are talking about. That school has done SO much for SO many students and its community, it's about time they got more recognition, and i think that given all the celebrities that attended and graduated there, its great that Nick wants to give back. Plus, the students that go to that school are not WEIRD, if anyone is weird, its the person who first made that comment. The students that attend and graduate from that school are bright, intelligent individuals. Plus, its a PUBLIC school. I think its great that such high schools exist that are able to give kids the ability to pursue their dreams and life goals. Okay, im going to stop, because this is way too long. But i just thought someone FROM the school should at least say SOMETHING. Oh, and i love your blog Perez!

(However, I do agree with the SCPA Alum. our school is great. but that side of it that they're showing is nothing like our real school. its disappointing. it only shows like one group of people there. we have so much diversity and America will never see it. the show is a disgrace to our reputation)
i currently go to scpa, its an awesome school and the people who go there are truly talented, BUT this show is portraying a totally unrealistic side of the people who go there. It may not be entirely "scripted" persay but the producers have more than a hand in the action. I wish MTV would leave us alone =(
It's unfortunate that, being a student at SCPA, I had to find out about this via Perez Hilton! They couldn't have the decency to let us know at school before it was released!? I'm definitely not bashing the website - I'm upset with how the students weren't told first!
I love SCPA - it has been great for me! Wonderful academics, fantastic arts programs! I have nothing but the highest amount of respect for SCPA and its faculty!
They were at my school for about a week filming a pilot. It was nothing but a burden! "Don't walk in front of these lockers, you can't sit at this table at lunch, you can't be in this hallway, etc." They would do many takes of one shot, and the show followed students that didn't necessarily possess the "highest talent."
This school is going through financial troubles right now, as well as some serious, legal drama that happened earlier this school year and this is definitely not the time for this show to happen! It's been a rough past year. Yes, this show may bring back publicity that SCPA has lost in the past, but I don't believe in any way it will help with the inner-workings of the school.

I agree, i think its sad that MTV and tv networks completely script reality. A girl from that school got onto American Idol her senior year, who has an incredible voice, she was even on Nicks clash of the choirs show, and she was never given any screen time on the show and eliminated once it got to live tapings because she didnt have a "tv" friendly story or some horrible voice that could be made fun of by the judges (and no, its not me, im a visual artist). I havent seen the show or whatnot, but i was just mainly replying to these posts that our school is "bullshit" and full of "weirdos" and whatnot. Plus, i think it is true/sad that only one side of the school is being shown. I havent seen the show, but i bet they arent showing much of anything about their great fine arts department!

Nick has been a long time supporter of the city of Cincinnati and his alma mater. It is only natural that he would choose to do a reality show showcasing other people's talents. If you remember, he did win the Clash of the Choirs which featured all people from Cincinnati. He is a great guy with a lot of talent and a big heart.
He can always make a sex tape with Vanessa, if he needs money.

Nick, you were great on the Nick/Jess reality show. When you did things yourself, you were a real man. The guys who are dissing you have no clue how to even use a hammer to put up a picture. They were latch key kids, dumbasses or didn't have a dad. Jess was the very definition of dumb when she split from you. I don't know how she can't hate her dad. Too dumb to see it, I guess. But don't hook up with Vanessa, make her get a job, marriage is just a piece of paper or a HUGE settlement. I do not trust her. You don't have to be married to have kids and go from there, look at Gene Simmons. But you do have to be married to pay out a huge divorce settlement.
