Premiering April 30th on the CW….Farmer Wants a Wife.

It's the 19th Century version of The Bachelor!
Ten big city ladies will compete to be a farmer's leading lady.
How will they win him over? By competing in barn-based challenges! Shoveling crap, rounding up animals…seeing city gals get down and dirty is gonna be 'fun'?! But you gotta love how they're going to send the 'loser' home at the end of each episode…the contestant without an egg under her assigned hen is sent packing.
We're another step closer to seeing every variation of anything that has ever been done on TV.

The original program is from the Netherlands - it has been on for 2 seasons, last season its ratings went through the roof (4.5 million in a country of 16 million people). Not my cup of tea, though.
Horrible show. This is a Dutch format and was able to reach a 50% market share, ridiculous!!

Its been on for about 3 seasons i think and the most popular show in holland.
this was also done in England, by the name of Dirty Cows I think
omg this is a classic dutch show ("boer zoekt vrouw"), i can't believe it's made it to the states! its a crazy world out there, with some pretty desperate farmers
so I worked on this show and its interesting because of one of the contestants Josie. She is nuts
One season of this show has been done on Australian TV already, with 1 couple (farmer and city gal) engaged.
Other than that, I dont think its a very exciting reality show.
It originated in the Netherlands. Boer zoekt vrouw! Very succesfull show over here. But i think the 'American version' will be somewhat more glamorous.
How will they win him over? I think a better question is, why would anyone WANT to win him over?
this show is in it's second season in Australia by the way. There was another variety of it - though the farmer picked one of the girls they met in the city and took them out to the farm. Usually the drama is that the personalities clash, just because they are isolated and the change in environment makes it entertaining viewing

this show first started in The Netherlands, it was a huge hit there. dont think a reproduction could be as good as the real thing

Hi, am from Holland. This is indeed a show from here. The thing is, in Holland it was very tastefully done, not with the object of creating drama, but with the object of letting farmers (in last season also 1 female farmer) find a partner. It was on public tv, not on commercial, and a real honest cute show.
But I bet it can be made into one ugly commercial show if in the wrong hands….
In the Netherlands it's a HUGE hit! I likes it

No offence, but I think this show was first broadcasted in Belgium. Three seasons are already over (and were a huge success) and there might be a new one this year.

Again, they've stolen a program from The Netherlands, C'mon, get some of your own shows- and is it even relevant in The States. The farmers are a dying breed- Europe it's a different story we have farms all over.. This is just sooo sad.

Over here (the netherlands) it's very popular…who know's what hot farmers there over there with you (lol it wasn't all that over here with the hot farmers…tooo bad) but fun to watch when you have nothing to do @ sunday evening

this was an aussie show its been on sbs and now moved to the more comercial channel nine here in aus…. they tend to get petty hot farmers too…. this is an AUSTRALIAN show

I worked at the front desk of a hotel this summer which was where all the girls were staying when filming this series. First of all, they were filming a "farmer" from Chesterfield, MO. While Chesterfield may not be a booming metropolitan city, it is far from a bumblefuck hillbilly town, overflowing with farmland, which is what one might expect from this show. Secondly, I had the privilege of speaking to many of the contestants and let me just say…TRASH. Trash and CRAZY. Many of these women were psycho and slutty and I can't wait to see the show. We are talking flavor of love quality. It should make smutty stupid television which will likely be every reality tv addicts guilty pleasure this spring!

I live in England and they did this show last year - at least with a wealthy UK farmer. It was called "Dirty Cows".

It was originally an English TV show, not Dutch. Check Wikipedia. The first series aired in the UK in 2001. The first series in Holland aired in 2004.

Hey what can I say, it's dark cold and miserable most of the year here and we are a very wholesome people who like churning butter on cold winter nights :p
The fact its probably the most popular show on Norwegian TV shows what a lame bunch of people we are (or perhaps how many farmer enthusiasts there are in Norway).

Honestly, those Dutch are so dumb. Just because something is on their TV they think they invented it. Farmer Wants Wife originated in the UK in 2001 already! Belgium, Norway and Holland did it also in 2004 and then the rest of the world pretty much followed suit. But Holland didn't invent this shit! Stop claiming something that isn't yours! Although, I have to say, the show is soo shite it could've well been invented by the Dutch (but it hasn't). A Belgian outsider who saw it on ITV, Ned1 and VTM.

1st the guy is NOT from Chesterfield MO, he's from a tiny farm community of Portage De Souix near the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Second, he already has a girlfriend of many years. He's only okay looking and the farm isn't really his. There was a write up in the local free paper last summer. It's been almost a year since the end of taping. I guess the network is getting tres desperate!
Re: i hate reality tv – Don't be so hard on yourself. Reality TV was 'officially' invented in Holland who started off with Big Brother (although MTV's The Real Life REALLY came first). But anyhow, you can blame the Dutch for bringing losers, braindeads, prozzies and whatnot to the little screen. You can punch them if you like too. With my blessings.

We've already had 2 or 3 seasons of this show in Sweden. All magz wrote about the farmers even when a season was over
