Funny that you are providing us more details about the source of Spitzer's money than the AP and Feds combined! You must be really well connected to know that this was taxpayer money before it was even announced. If what you mean is, that his salary is paid by NY taxes, then yes. You're right but who are we to say his personal income and wealth belongs to the taxpayer? He was an effective Attorney General, cracking down on prostitution rings. He's now considered a hypocrite, that's what the huge issue is. Nothing reported thus far has stated that he was illegally taking tax dollars to fund his escort excursions. Prostitution is illegal. Being a governor and partaking in prostitution is illegal and a huge shame….BUT I have yet to hear that he stole the funds.

How can anyone defend Spitzer at this point? He's been a terrible governor and it's pretty sickening that in a state where we're paying some of the highest (if not THE highest) taxes in the nation, we're seeing absolutely ZIP for it and then we find out our fearless leader is blowing close to a hundred grand on a hooker. If this is what it takes to get him kicked out of power, so be it. This should have happened based on his poor leadership before his poor morality (and the fact that he's a major hypocrite), but nonetheless, I think you'll find that a majority of us in New York are waiting anxiously for his resignation. It's really interesting to see some of the responses to this story from people who don't (and have never) lived in N.Y.. Word to the wise: there's a lot more in the state than the city, and while its an absolutely beautiful state, like anything else it's crumbling under a lack of proper care. Spitzer has done nothing to help that. I say live here before you form a definite opinion on the subject. And to those of you who do live here and disagree - well, you're certainly entitled.
