A Worthwhile Cause

CLICK HERE to contribute to a worthwhile cause and get more education on a very important subject!

Cancer sucks, and that's putting it mildly.

So…let's do something about it!

CLICK HERE to donate to Livestrong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. They're helping the fight against cancer on MANY levels.

Many of you can't or won't contribute anything today, but even if just 1% of you (millions and millions of Perezcious readers) give something, we can make a difference.

It's a worthwhile cause, our new campaign!

Your FULL OF causes today, Perez. This is what I mean. You're just doing this to be a JOINER. So sick of people "suddenly finding charity" in their life. You either have this in you or you don't. You're doing this for a reason and I think it stinks to SUDDENLY be someone you're not.

Fuck Lance Armstong. He bangs underage girls and does too much blow. I live in Austin and it's no secret here he is a piece of crap If you're going to donate to Cancer research, donate to the American Cancer Society. Lance is a joke. Perez, stop trying to save the world and stop with the music suggestions. Stick to drawing jizz doodles on celebrity faces. You're about to jump the shark homey.

I am so sorry, Perez, but I do not know if I can support something with your name on it. If you would have asked me yesterday, I would have jumped at the chance. I have always looked up to you and thought of you as an icon. The whole Patrick Swayze thing really dissappointed me. You pointed your finger at him and basically put him down and embarrassed him. He is dying a painful death and all you can focus on is smoking? I just dont get how that has any significance. I will support cancer causes, but I am unsure at this point if I can support anything with your name on it. Please try to be more understanding that these are Patrick Swayze's last days. Why would you want to make him feel useless right now and embarrass his family? Is it for the sake of "shocking" people? Well, you get props there. You shocked me today.

If anyone wants to see a very convincing documentary on THC being the cure for cancer, you need to watch "Run From The Cure" on YouTube. The Rick Simpson story. He has PROVEN that hemp oil with THC in it cures cancer. He's cured a couple of people who give their story on the documentary, and other people who had other ailments that were cured. YOU ALL NEED TO WATCH "RUN FROM THE CURE, THE RICK SIMPSON STORY" Google it! YouTube it! Watch it! All the drug companies and pharmaceutical companies wouldn't even LOOK at the people he cured and refused to take him seriously and now Rick Simpson is sitting in jail as of February 8, 2008 to appease the American government. THC IS THE CURE FOR CANCER!

"Cancer Sucks" is trademarked by a group in OK who have all rights to it. I also agree with post number 19. when you donate to cancer you are just making the issue worse. When you focus you energy on something you are just fueling it. Even if your evergy is on getting rid of it you are still putting your energy to it. Also the money is just going to the drug companys which again is not going to fix the problem. Insteas we should focus on health and wellness. Plus cancer is a lifestyle issue, if you dump toxins into a lake and all the fish start getting tumors you don't take all the fish out and perform sergery on them, you don't dump drugs into the lake to try and make them better…no you remove the toxins and clean the lake.

    36

Please don't listen to people who are saying that you can find a better charity than this. What Lance Armstrong does in his personal life holds no bearing on what he does for cancer patients. I am a 25 year old woman with a very rare, non-smoking caused lung cancer that metastasized from my bones. I got my first tumor when I was only 23. I didn't do anything to cause this. Cancer doesn't care how famous you are, how much money you have or what your moral standing is. It doesn't discriminate. Live Strong is an amazing organization with an amazing message. You shouldn't let your opinion of it's founder affect your willingness to help cancer patients, both present and future.

Would be nice if Perez posted something similar for mental illness. People know MUCH more about cancer and much LESS about mental illness. Why do you think there is so much Stigma, people with mental illness deserve more research, donations, etc…It is so sad that the mentally ill get a label like CRAZY or PSYCHO. If people only knew what hell those individuals go through and on top of it, they aren't accepted into society which makes them noncompliant when taking meds. Support the mentally ill as equally as you do the physically ill.

i would love to help anyone whose sick in any way i could. but i am now offended by people asking for money.
where is all our money going too?
America is going down the toilet. there is not enough money for schools, roads, bridges, homeless, the list goes on and on.
    why do we keep giving?
also, how much more do we have? most of us can't afford grocery's, gas, ect.

our goverment is so awful, they are all a bunch of thives and do not care about the American people yet they live like kings and queens.

we need to speak up, ask where our tax dollars are going to, and stop the corruption in government.
i'm tired, i'm tired of working everyday and getting no where, i can't even afford to get sick.
this country needs to take a stand against our government.

While I have no comment about Lance Armstrong's personal life, I can't understand this trend to donate to cancer SURVIVORS. There is so much focus today on breast, testicular and lung cancer, which means a lot more awareness. Testicular cancer is usually 90% curable if it hasn't hit stage 4. What about the cancers that are not so easily curable? My mother died of kidney cancer, which is immune to chemotherapy; seeing her go through miserable experimental treatments before slowly wasting away was horrible. Donate to the cancers that aren't trendy and that people are actually dying of, not the survivors. Survivors mean they live, poor them.

Why don't you see a bunch of celebs donating their money?! I mean seriously… I give money to charities. Celebs should donate their money, even moreso! A lot of celebs just speak… Actions speak louder than words.

    53

While I applaud your newly discovered do-gooder-ness, Perez, I agree with some of the posters on this particular point: we should focus on eliminating the causes of cancer (or autism or other disease du jour) not just funnel money into cleaning up the mess made by modern industrial corporations that only care about the bottom line. And by the way, if we had universal health care and funded stem cell research there would be earlier detection and more effective treatment of these illnesses.

Since you're in such a good-doer mood, try raising awareness on mental health. So many people are ignorant on it or oblivious to how prevalent it is. There's just so many common misconceptions. I think you may like To Write Love On Her Arms (www.twloha.com). They've been using musicians from the Warped Tour scene to try and send their message. And we all know how you love music. If I had had my cancer 20 years ago I would have died, but because of research and improvements in chemotherapy I have gone into remission and plan to stay there.

I am suspicious of Lance Armstrong's cancer. I think that I read that testicular cancer is related to some of the doping drugs that Lance supposedly took. I believe that these drugs caused his cancer. I am glad that he is doing well, but I don't think it would be a good idea to donate to his cancer charity. Besides, he dumped Cheryl Crowe when she got cancer. He also dated one of those dim Olsen girls.

Cancer is going to still occur, just like heart disease, diabetes, MS, MD, Chrones Disease, Lupus, RA, etc. What is most conceivable is prevention, early detection, improved quality of life, caregiver support, advocacy, services, and awareness. Therein lies Survival.

And one more thing, Lance has never, ever tested positive for drugs. Not once. And he's been tested over, and over, and over again. Believe me, once you've done chemotherapy, you never want anything injected into your veins again. Lance Armstrong is a phenomenal athlete and defeated overwhelming odds to win the Tour de France seven times, fair and square, through plain old hard work and determination.

I guess it's hard for you jerks out there to understand how we cancer survivors feel, though. You haven't been through it. So maybe you should stay out of this conversation and stick to video games and other mindless stuff. Or just bugger off.
