Washington State House APPROVES Bill To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage!!!!!!
A-MAZING! We knew they could do it!!!!
Last week, we were absolutely THRILLED to learn that the Washington state Senate passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage!
Now, we're ECSTATIC to report that the house has voted in favor of the bill, which means....
IT WILL BE LEGAL FOR SAME-SEX COUPLES TO GET MARRIED IN WASHINGTON (starting this June).
Here's what Gov. Chris Gregoire had to say about it:

great idea P! To make it easier to track how much your readers contribute, i would set up a 501 c(3) that donates to …say…3 different charities and allow your readers to choose which charities they want you to donate too and then you can personally hand over checks to said organizations at some 'event' hosted by you and have personalities there ect….this could big and fun! great idea!
Right on P! I never comment, but have to support this one. I'm with Kate. Success stories are a fab idea, along with posting the numbers from reader's donations. Make sure that the charities are legit - check out their backgrounds, etc. and see how many of the dollars they raise go out to the community vs. making their offices pretty and their cars shiny. LOTS of opportunity for GOOD!!!

Good for you. I am really happy to hear you doing this. I think it's a great idea and I would enjoy a post of yours linking to a recommended charity. Maybe include a story or family related to that cause (not a celebrity) to help us understand it's closer to home. Using everyday people will tug at my heartstrings moreso than a celebrity. it's important to help kids with autism but could you please support parkinsons charities? there are 100,00 new cases every year and its getting bigger as the babyboomers grow up. help out our parents, too.

We already donate to Autism Speaks so we're very glad you're supporting this and bringing attention to it!

if people want to buy unique and charitable birthday, anniversary, or any sort of presents this year, go to goodgifts.org… in someone else's name you can do loads… clear minefields, get heart surgery for a baby in India, gift of sight for someone, among many other things… it's cheap for you and a really unique gift and it will make the recipient feel good you donated in their name!

Send your money to charity while still commenting on other's misfortune. Somhow that doesn't add up to anything more than a half-baked attempt to circumvent karma from kicking you squarely in the ass over the coming years.
I love your idea to support organizations. However, I have a problem with Autism Speaks. They have ignored the fact that vaccinations trigger autism. They have essentially swept this information under the rug. Bob Wright (the founder of Autism Speaks) started the organization because of his grandson who was diagnosed with autism. Since then, however, his own daughter (Katie Wright, the mother of the grandson) has disassociated herself from the organization because of their lack of attention to the vaccination issue.
Jenny McCarthy would be a good source to go to (do you know her? All you Hollywood types know each other, right?)… Jenny also knows that vaccinations are associated with triggering autism… Ask her where to send the money… My guess is that her first choice would not be Autism Speaks…
Again, though… I love the idea just not thrilled with money going to Autism Speaks (but that's a personal preference). You can't win, can you?

Autism Speaks is horrible organization. I have autism; none of their employees have autism/asperger's. They just want to "cure" autism, but don't want to do anything for those living with autism, which are millions of people. Plenty of autistic people have college degrees and are productive members of society so why do they discriminate against us if they are suppose to advocate for us. They don't see us as human beings, just as something to be "fixed" not understood. Autism Speaks is another example where they profit from misunderstanding of differences.
