Our Idol fave, David Archuleta, appears to have a stage daddy just like Jess and Ash!
According to Entertainment Tonight assert that David was off his game Tuesday night because daddy, Jeff, apparently pitched a huge fit at a Monday recording session.
Sources claim "2.0" yelled at David during the session cause he wasn't happy with his son's singing — and even brought him to tears.
Awwwwww. How mean!
Reps for American Idol had no comment on the incident.

I hope that isn't true. The singers are under enough pressure without having anyone adding to it. His dad should be his biggest supporter, not a jerk.
Dad's always end up getting too riled up when their kid(s) is/are talented at something. My dad used to bring my little brother to tears after Soccer and Basketball games all the time.

I am sure that's the reason. I've seen people down that path (overbearing parents and all) and I recognise the body language of someone being used as a puppett. It's the scary twinkle in his eye, the shifty body language that screams 'Don't hit me pop'. This guy will need to break away from his parents when he'll be a little bit older. Also, the selection of his songs so comes from frustrated daddy. Set David free! This kid has been performing like a monkey since the age of 10!

I think it's all made up and done on purpose. e.g make the young boy looks like he comes from poverty with the father wearing a "old baseball cap" at every performance, make up a story that he "looses" his voice earlier in his career, ever get laryngitis? Make him 'forget" his lines on performance night. When asked why he didn't sing the first lines of the Beatles song earlier, he mentions words to the effect, "It didn't speak to me" Baloney, his team of voice coaches did that on a song he was VERY well practiced on! I personally don't buy any of it……………….

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Show biz parents can be way too extreme. And David's alluded to having a singing career since an early age and this is his big break. So full on show biz parent freak out is no surprise.
Hopefully, as a result of this public humiliation, dad will cool down with the pressure and find a way to enjoy this experience with his son, instead of making it even more stressful.
since when has joe simpson ever yelled or abused his daughters? never! all ive heard him do is do everything he could for them and support their pursuits even if they weren't talented. shit, my dad abused me and told me i stunk at singing and even refused to take me to a competition or choir practices. so your comparison is just..plain dumb.

He sucked and I didn't like him in the first place but I was really put off by the fact that he wasn't a Beatles fan and decided he'd do a Stevie Wonder cover of a Beatles song.

If Daddy Archuleta wanted his son to have a recording career, he would have taught him some Beatles songs! I'm not supporting him going off on his kid, but even David admitted in his taped segment that he's not too familiar with their stuff. Come on, it's the Beatles! But I hope his dad lays off — no one deserves that.

I have an uneasy feeling that David might be gone tonite. He is clearly the most talented, but he was really terrible last nite. Why is he in a recording studio with his father in the first place? Perhaps he should have spent time learning his song instead. Sounds like his dad will be to blame if he is gone tonite.
Ultimate stage parent is Lynne Spears.. she had the ultimate control when it came to her daughter.. to the point it drove the little girl mad as a woman.. YET, Perez seem to love Brit's family..
