Rehab is a Good Thing

As we wondered yesterday, it appears that Eddie Van Halen is back in rehab.
According to reports, Eddie is receiving treatment in San Antonio, TX.
It was a bust up with his son and bandmate, 17 year old Wolfgang (his son with Jenny Craig spokeswhore Valerie Bertinelli), on Friday that apparently forced him into rehab once again.
An insider says, "Wolf hates it when his dad drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk onstage that night, and was acting cold to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went beserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage. At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over."
He's supposedly in to detox for just one week.
There were concerns about Eddie relapsing while on tour before Van Halen even hit the road.
Will this quick fix really be enough to help Eddie get through the on-hold-for-now tour?

Alcohol withdrawal is very dangerous. It can cause heart attacks and seizures, and is the only drug that's withdrawals can kill you. A lot of alcoholics go on major binges and then they know they need to dry out for a while, and they know because of the withdrawals they can't do it without sedetives and medical supervision. So they go into "rehab" for a week or two, or if they are lucky enough they can get a doctor down they street to prescribe them a sedetive and they can do it at home. Once they dry out real good for about a month, they are right back at it and start they cycle all over again. I've literally seen it thousands of times.

I was in treatment for 2 and 1/2 years and have been clean ever since (6 years) He needs at least 3 months of in patient treament. How many years did he fuck off high and drunk?? What is a couple of months of you life to live??

For hard core addicts/alcoholics one week is not enough; however, if they are not willing to surrender their will, it doesn't matter how long they spend in rehab. My husband is now in rehab for the 3rd time in the last year. Need I say more….

detox is not rehab, if you knew anything about any of the shit you always talk about, then you should know that. detox is jsut where you go to get the drugs out of your system, and then you go to a rehab facility. fuck perez, you're a retard.

What does it matter how long he is in rehab….THIS TIME? When someone goes in and out and in and out of rehab and nothing ever works, what difference does it make how long this stay will be?????? "Detox" for alcohol is usually never more than one week. The process of going in for detox is merely to stop drinking in a safe environment with medical supervision. It's up to the person thereafter to decide whether or not to go into a rehab facility (many of which do not offer detox).

Knew it.. Just went into AA myself and can tell you a lil fact.. A relapse with alcohol can kill the alcoholic the very first time incredibly. Eddies heart is not used to it and we tend to do make up drinking for lost time. I love Van Halen. And so does Wolfie

The misty, rosy vision of playing father & son (and brother) has been replaced with having to set an example for your son 24/7, & not being able to Party on tour and kick back with the band for a night without being judged. I doubt their original bass player would have expected perfection from Eddie. Such is life. Your kids grow up worshipping you, and then turn around and read you the riot act; about yourself. They'll get over it. Wolfgang will become more tolerant, but teenagers get overly arrogant about any 'do as I say, but not as I do stuff', go figure, lol. When they become mature adults, they'll slip you a mickey into the rest home out of compassion and wink, wink. I saw Van Halen this tour, and it was a great trip back in time. Very magical. Eddie no doubt would play better a bit looped than most would sober; guitar virtuosity. Roth was great, Alex kicked it, and Wolfgang has all the makings once he develops a stage presence. Hope they finish out their tour for their fan's sake, and for their own.
