Super director Bryan Singer is returning for a new Superman movie.
Despite speculation that the revamped franchise wouldn't come back, Singer confirmed that the follow-up to Superman Returns is currently in development.
According to Bryan, the next installment will be more action packed. Translation: The studio is making demands! They want/need this next one to make more $$$$$$$.
Fans supposedly weren't so into the last one because it was more story-driven and romantical.

The plane crash scene was one of the most intense and amazing scenes in cinematic history. The rest of the movie blew donkey balls. I will give them one chance to get this right, otherwise, I am gonna abandon it like I did the god-awful Spiderman franchise.

I thought Superman Returns was a good movie. Love Routh, Spacey and Parker…not so much Kate. Brandon was born to play this part, he was exactly what I wanted to see. I think it's funny that other people on this panel hated it so much. Then don't see the next one and shut up and write a better screenplay yourself.

This is great news. Despite being flawed, I really enjoyed Superman Returns. The sequel promises to be more character and action oriented. Also I would rather see a SR sequel than a Justice League movie.

I loved Superman Returns, Brandon Routh is perfect as Superman. I enjoyed Spacey's Lex, but we definately need a bigger villian for the next one. Brainiac or Darkseid! It's cool to have Lex too, but we need a super-villian. I did not care for Bosworth's Lois, but I think re-casting would be more disruptive than helpful. Bring her back, just reduce her role. She's with Richard anyway. Just have her in a smaller role, give "the kid" like a cameo, i.e. acknowledge it, but don't make it a plot point. I'd like to see Brainiac as the main villian, Cat Grant as the main love interest, and have Lex and Lois as smaller supporting characters.

Singer will no doubt do a great job. They need much more Routh doing action and dialogue. I wish they would reconsider letting Bosworth play Lane. She did not pull it off at all in the last film!
i liked the superman returns cuz i like the characters (superman, lex luthoer) i am a comic book fan. the problem is, movie audiences aren't what they used to be. a decently acted and directed movie was all you needed. but nowadays there has has to be wall to wall action and violence to suceed.
I thought the movie was never going to end… it kept going on and on and on. If they had cut maybe 35 or 40 minutes I think they would have had a better (read: more popular) picture. Still not sure about all the gay shit everyone seems so hung up on. Looked pretty hetero to me… just too f-ing long.

The actual reason no one sees Superman is that we already know what's going to happen. I love my Super Heroes but when the he cannot be broken in any way then we no longer care. As far as Superman Returns goes they did try to use kryptonite against him but it didn't work… he slowed down for about 2 minutes and then he was fine (even though the kryptonite was still there). It just the kind of thing we can't sit through. The love story was fine and needed for something new we care about. But yes the action could get pulled up as well. The film itself though looked beautiful with it's dark saturated colors and perfect shots… I just wish he would have done X-MEN III instead.
