One of the most exciting things about our big concert in Texas this Saturday is the variety of artists we have performing.
We have rappers, rockers, electro acts, pop acts and singer/songwriters! Meiko falls into that last category and she is one of the most exciting new singer/songwriters on the scene.
Her music is beautiful (we love the pretty), melodic, haunting and just about every other good adjective we could use to describe her!
Meiko is part of an exceptionally stellar lineup that also includes N.E.R.D., Robyn, Eric Hutchinson, Dragonette, Chester French, Katy Perry, Riskay, Ultraviolet Sound and 2 more amazing artists to be announced tomorrow.

Listen I like these bands… really.. But there is NOTHING original about them nor do they have any staying power - i mean REAL staying power… in a year or so they will be another hip and indie band taking their place… and thats fine.. but you showed ALOT of disrespect the other day with your Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead comment… Chester fuckin French would not even exist had it not been for Radiohead… How can you consider yourself a music orgnaizer if you cant even appreciate where music has come from. You can post the booze but would probably diss a beach boys / beatles show…. These bands - like you are a flash in the pan… you will be gone before you know it!

Thanks for introducing me to Meiko - she reminds of me Aimee Mann and Feist with such a soulful voice. Too bad I can't get by ass down to Austin to check her out. Promote her Perez, I really like her and she should be global with such a great gift!

I've been turned on to so much great music from this site Perez … Meiko is fab and thank you thank you thank you for getting me into Regina. Heaven. Wish I could come to Austin… seconding the cry for a Philly event. That would be so fly.
My husband lived in Minneapolis when we met and got me really into Brenda Weiler and Stuart Davis. Ever heard of either? Very cool. Wish they could find a broader audience like you've been able to give to so many cool out-of-the-way artists. Screw the gossip… can't WAIT to see what you're going to do with your cool music deal.
Fuck SXSW. And industry full of dicksuckers who know nothing about integrity or talent. I mean, they gave Perez Hilton a showcase. Stick to what you know. Most of the people in these bands will be working at Fred Segal or some coffee shop in Brooklyn in 10 years anyway. Ha!

Austin: most overhyped city in the nation; Austin: where law enforcement is totally corrupt; Austin: good luck driving on these narrow streets and packed highways, suckers; Austin: a whole lotta music down here, and 99% of it SUCKS.
In relatively a few short years, SXSW has managed — where various groups have failed: nutjob Christians; your federal government; Tipper & Co. — to murder and embalm and bury rock and roll music. Great job. Yes, "let's all go to fucking Austin, man."

OK I have never heard of Meiko until i saw this post and decided to listen. I kinda liked it. So i looked her up on myspace and i absolutely love her song Sleep and Hawaii. I think they are great. I think she has a very beautiful and soulful voice. Love it!
