When Out Of Work Actors Get A Job

Filed under: TV News > Christian Slater

slaterwenn.jpg

For the first time ever, Christian Slater may be starring in his own primetime show on TV. Cuz his film career's been going nowhere recently!

Sources say NBC is close picking up an untitled drama starring Slater.

The show is described as The Bourne Identity meets Jekyll & Hyde and centers on a mild-mannered suburban dad (Slater) who learns that his alter ego is a spy.

Sounds….thrilling. Not really!

so basically its 'a history of violence' only a television show, and instead of a killer he's a spy. yea. that'll be awesome.

In a posting frenzy, I have to add that lots of actors turn to television because they - gasp - love what they do. In case you haven't noticed with all your Hollywood insight, fewer films are being made. He needs to pay the mortgage just like everyone else, and might as well do what he loves in the process. Stop being such a b*tch, it's boring.

Uh - wasn't that done a few times like in Long Kiss Goodnight and sorta in Resident Evil? Great idea - use an old-done-before theme for a has-been actor…spectalulicious…..of course he's the only dude that can survive with the same hairstyle the last 20 years…..

Perez, you've got some agreement issues here in the headline. Are you saying all the out-of-work actors are getting the same job? No. The object should be plural to match the subject.

"When out-of-work actors get jobs" or "When an out-of-work actor gets a job"

    Pick up the slack!

HE WAS SO ADORABLE IN LEGEND OF BILLIE JEAN.
I JUST SAW THAT MOVIE ON SHOWTIME AND I THINK HE WAS LIKE 15 OR 16 BUT HE WAS SOOOO CUTE.

He used to be so cool, his career has gone anywhere recently, lets say in the last 15 years! What has that boy been in recently?

  33. Jade says – reply to this

    33

Hmmmm, awesome actor. For some reason though, I can't help but think pedophile when I see him……is that just me?

  34. Camila says – reply to this

    34

Christian Slater is the man. That dude is living off dvd sales of "Heathers" and "True Romance." He's the original Tarantino leading man. That's also how Winona could afford to live in San Francisco (L.A. IS SOO CHEAP IN CONTRAST) after the whole Sak's 5th thing.

  35. Citygal says – reply to this

    35

how original… a male version of the Geena Davis movie "The Long Kiss Goodnight"… Hollywood thinks we're all retarded and if you let 10 years or so pass, you won't remember a recycled plot when you see one. So annoying and T-R-I-T-E. Whatever…he's kinda like the washed-up Diet Coke version of Jack Nicholson anyway, or am I being too harsh?

There was a time when I would only hire rent-boys that looked like C.S., this past month its been all Chace Crawford lookalikes.

  39. Sherry says – reply to this

    39

WHAA?!?! His alter ego is really a spy?!? THAT sounds a helluva lot more thrilling than most of the crap on tv now!! As long as they get smart writers to do the dialogue, and have an awesome set, the show will be great! Everyone thought the "Party of 5" people were DONE. Toast. But then Matthew Fox agreed to be on a little show from ABC called "Lost", about people in a plane crash who get stranded on a mysterious island. Sounds pretty cheesy huh?

Judging from the number of comments so far (only 43) you can tell nobody gives a shit about this guy anymore - I doubt many remember when he was actually one of the hottest and up and coming actors in Hollywood back in the early 90s! But Leo and Johnny and Brad and Keanu all passed him up because they made great/popular movies, worked with legendary directors and didn't rely on some rehashed Jack Nicholson imitation shtik! I actually used to think Slater was hot but now he's just a has-been on his way to the Land of Leif Garrett and Richard Greico!

  41. Squishy says – reply to this

    41

He used to be cute and kinda interestingly sexy in that younger version of Jack Nicholson kind of way, but his last few B-Movies went straight to video and really sucked! I don't know whether its bad choices, bad selection being offered him, or simply over rated talent, but ever since Heathers everything has gone down hill. Though, he appeared to show some intelligence by doing bit parts in a Star Trek movie and The West Wing…might be something there after all…
