Is this a surprise? No one would listen to Ron Paul. The diversion of global warming has turned everyone's head away from our economy. Don't think your money is important? Go without it for awhile. Ron Paul is very focused on economics and repeatedly warns about the printing of unbacked money devaluing our dollar. The war is what is driving the printing of this money…it has to come from somewhere. Economic stimulus…those I have spoke to said they are going to pay off their bills with that money….a bandaid that will cause a bigger crash down the road. Why did not enough people, Dem or Republican, really listen to what this man is saying instead of listening to the biased (huge understatement there!) who passes him off as some kook?

    DUH!!!!!

With a forum as large as this, you should really report some more of this type of news! People could use some real information sprinkled in with this past-time nonsense we dilute our brains with.
The cost of food has risen 40% in the past two years! Everyone is aware of the gas boost, but do people really question WHY. There is no need for the gauging, other then the fact that some rich bastards want even more $$. Minimum wage isn't budging, and people are taking out lines of credit they they will never be able to pay off. The gap between the upper and lower class is widening people. CAN ANYONE SAY A SECOND DEPRESSION?? We need to get the fuck out of the middle east, and our government needs to stop poisoning the water supply with chemicals that are PROVEN to not only cause cancer, but also causes a calming effect among populations who ingest it. RESEARCH THIS FOR YOURSELF.

Since its inception in 1954 at the Bilderberg Hotel in the small Dutch town of Oosterbeek, the Bilderberg Group has been comprised of European prime ministers, American presidents, and the wealthiest CEOs of the world, all coming together to discuss the economic and political future of humanity.

The press has never been allowed to attend, nor have statements ever been released on the attendees' conclusions or discussions, which have ramifications on the citizens of the world. Using methods that resemble the spy tactics of the Cold War

At this point it seems pretty certain that we are facing an inflationary depression. What’s awful is that much of this is being done by design. Indeed, it is somewhat surprising that there is not already rioting in the streets, given the gigantic fraud perpetrated by the financial elite at the expense of ordinary Americans.

The fallout of a deliberate and preconceived profit agenda to enslave the middle classes in a debt bubble. Wall Street also duped the public….Business, of course, needs consumers to carry on spending in order to make money, so a way had to be found to persuade households to do their patriotic duty. The method chosen was simple. Whip up a colossal housing bubble, convince consumers that it makes sense to borrow money against the rising value of their homes to supplement their meagre real wage growth and watch the profits roll in.

As they did - for a while. Now it’s payback time and the mood could get very ugly. Americans, to put it bluntly, have been conned. They have been duped by a bunch of serpent-tongued hucksters who packed up the wagon and made it across the county line before a lynch mob could be formed.

The US has just had its weakest period of expansion since the 1950s. Consumption growth has been poor. Investment growth has been modest. Exports have been sluggish. But if you are at the top of the tree, the years since the last recession in 2001 has been a veritable golden age. Salaries for executives have rocketed and profits have soared, because the productivity gains from a growing economy have been disproportionately skewed towards capital.

For ordinary Americans, though, it has been a different story. Real wages have been growing slowly; at just 1.6% a year on average over the latest upswing, well down on the experience of earlier decades. Business, of course, needs consumers to carry on spending in order to make money, so a way had to be found to persuade households to do their patriotic duty. The method chosen was simple. Whip up a colossal housing bubble, convince consumers that it makes sense to borrow money against the rising value of their homes to supplement their meagre real wage growth and watch the profits roll in.

As they did - for a while. Now it's payback time and the mood could get very ugly. Americans, to put it bluntly, have been conned. They have been duped by a bunch of serpent-tongued hucksters who packed up the wagon and made it across the county line before a lynch mob could be formed.

The debate now is not about whether the US is in recession but how deep and long that recession will be. Super-bears have started to say that this is perhaps "The Big One", by which they mean the onset of a new Great Depression. The need to rescue Bear Stearns has done little to still those voices.

As the economics team at HSBC recently pointed out, there has been a "catastrophic breakdown" of trust, and when that has happened in the past - the US in the 1930s, Japan in the 1990s - chucking extra money at the banks in the hope that they will start lending again proves ineffective.

It's not hard to see why trust has become such a rare commodity: Wall Street at the height of the securitisation mania had, in effect, become London at the time of the South Sea Bubble crisis in 1720. Vast quantities of funny paper were changing hands even though those involved in the deals had no idea of their true worth. Nor did they care. Inevitably, now the bubble has burst and the huge Ponzi securitisation scam has been exposed, there has been a reaction. The securitisation market is dead, there is less money sloshing round the system, banks are hoarding their cash

  47. MARACANAZO 1950 says – reply to this

    47

In the longer term, lessons must be learnt from the turmoil. One is that you don’t solve the problems of a collapsing bubble by blowing up another, which is what Alan Greenspan did after the dotcom fiasco in 2001 - the most irresponsible behaviour of any central banker in living memory."

  48. MARACANAZO 1950 says – reply to this

Last week we highlighted the fact that Greenspan, instead of trying to act to reverse the damage he has done to the US economy, is actively encouraging its further demise by urging foreign states to abandon their dollar peg.

"If this is, heaven help us, The Big One, one of the only consolations will be that the repugnance at the orgy of speculation that has sapped the strength of the US economy will put a new New Deal on the political agenda."

  50. MARACANAZO 1950 says – reply to this

    50

It should be added that, given that this crisis has been engineered by a financial elite Ponzi scheme, we should be extremely wary of any "new deal" that is brokered by the financial and political elite posing as our saviors.

There are already talks of a "new world order" emerging from the fallout of the current economic meltdown. A consolidation among the big financial institutions does not spell good news for ordinary Americans and people across the world who have been effectively

  51. MARACANAZO 1950 says – reply to this

    51

We, along with others such as Stiglitz, have repeatedly warned of the quickening of an agenda of economic catastrophe allied to the "solution" of predatory globalism.

Nevertheless, while CNN and other mainstream outlets continue to parade economic "experts" who ludicrously suggest that the destruction of the dollar and the economic downturn is "not necessarily a bad thing" for America, it is a refreshing change to read a mainstream report that actually hints at the reality of the situation the US and the rest of the world now faces at the hands of the elite.

It’s all just a huge transfer of wealth to get rid of the middle class. The elite only want one class and that’s them with enough serfs and slaves to take care of their every want and need. The rest of us are just useless eaters. We are about to see the end of America that we all know and love. But that’s ok, I hear they have some lovely camps for us to stay in till they get around to disposing of us.

The first two central banks in America failed. Between Greenspan and Bernanke - I've written this, it's in my book, long before this happened - they're setting up the failure of the central bank. The demise of the Federal Reserve.

The first two failed, this one is going to fail too - because of Greenspan and Bernanke. Greenspan laid the perfect foundation for Bernanke.
    Fr: Jim Rogers

Interesting how Mr.Greenspan takes the high road he is guilty.

On why Bear Stearns was bailed out:

You know the reason they did it this way was because, if Bear Stearns had to declare bankruptcy, you'd realize that Bear Stearns paid out billions of dollars in bonuses in January - six weeks ago. If he let them go into bankruptcy, they all would have had to send back their bonuses.

This is what they're doing, they're doing it so they don't have to give back their bonuses. That's why they didn't put them into bankruptcy. Jamie Dimon has gotten a great deal because the Federal Reserve is paying for it. The Federal Reserve is using taxpayer money to buy a bunch of Bear Stearns traders' Mazeratis.

I wonder why Greenspan didn't mention that it was his irresponsible handling of interest rates that caused the problem to begin with.

Re: Bush & Cheney American Fucktards
Dumbfuck, I don't support Bush but your statement is retarded. The war has created a boatload of jobs and is helping keep the ship afloat more than anything else. Why do you think the Dems haven't pushed through a surrender plan yet? War has never been bad for an economy so long as you are the one being bombed.
Greenspan lowering interest rates to ludicrous levels after 9/11 is the reason assholes thought it would be a good idea to package loans and sell them as securities. This problem has nothing to do with any President. The Federal Reserve is semi-private and acts on it's own.

What do you expect when you give all the tax breaks to the rich and the corporation. Someone has to pay those taxes, the middle class and poor. So, since they can't afford it, they don't bo out and buy, they don't consume.

Proof? I havn't gone to the movies in 2 years, I can't afford to go out to dinner, forget about taking out a date.

I window shop, I have to second and third guess when I'm going to buy clothes, as for food? forget the steak, it's the tuna can and the oatmeal. I gave up my car. Forget buying a home.

Get a roomate, buckle down. If I'm doing this, Imagine millions of Americans in the same boat, hence the economy, And everyone is shcoked? it was only a matter of time.

The "Federal" Reserve is an organization that declares itself to be supreme law and above all other power or decisions. It is NOT a part of the public governement. It is owned by — well it is a SECRET.

However this secret group of men (you can be sure there are few women who OWN the Federal Reserve - while many work there) USES other people's money to bail out companies in their industry. The other people are the US TAXPAYERS. The industry is fianance.

    What a scam.

The REPUBLICAN controlled WHITE HOUSE, HOUSE OF REPS, SENATE and SUPREME COURT did this to AMERICA.

    NEVER VOTE REPUBLICAN AGAIN

Of course when one looks at our financial realities it becomes easy to realize that this crisis we are now entering was started during the time Greenspan was at the helm: Not he wants us to look only at the present not the past where this all began and he was so so silent!

I guess he just might be an arrogant dumb shit who a lot of people thought was really smart! I'd do his wife in a minute…and that's what really counts, right!?

Ordinary Americans are realising what the rest of the world has known for a while - that you're fucked. Your media have done good job of hiding it from you, I've seen American 'news'. Its your fault for voting in the same people for so long. You don't have a democracy. Get ready to bow down to your new world leaders, China and India, who you're government have sold you out to for cash. Its all good for us Europe though, we can buy cheap housing and others things from America now you're money is worth crap.

Yeah - it is GREAT you all voted in all those Democrats into Congress. We are in a MUCH Better situation now then we were 2 years ago - YAY DEMOCRATS! And they just voted on RAISING our taxes - and just in case you are wondering, that is for regular Joes like you and me who only make 30K a year! So much for taxing only the rich! They also voted to keep their stupid Earmarks that are hiden in bills - so that things like this continue to happen. Remember Bush can only work with what is given to him from Congress - THEY ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE THE LAWS!!!

The US government plays the public like a fiddle. They divide and rule so we're fighting eachother for scraps at the bottom instead of realising whats really going on. The same few people have been in power forever, do some research into theirs and their families investments. Iraq war wasn't just about oil, its about contracts too. If its costing $3billion a week to fund the war where do you think the momney's going? I don't see any Iraqi's wearing designer clothes and living large, its going to the manufacturers who provide things for the war, look which boards The Clintons, Buish's Rumsfelds, Cheney's and their relatives are on. The ruling elite want to enslave and indebt all American regardless of race, their will be two classes, ruling class and slave class in a new world order called Globalisation. Time for all the potential slave class to band together stop the in-fighting realise whats going on and stop this shit.

You people kept voting for these republican pricks although it probably wouldn't have mattered who you voted for, they're all the same, and probably all even went to the same schools. They are the elite and want it to stay that way they just have different approaches. You can't even say anything against them now because they've slyly made it so that if you critisize you get called un-patriotic and un-american or a freind of terrorists. How have we let outrsleves be duped like this?
