This is terribly terribly sad.

Oscar winning director Anthony Minghella has passed away.

He was just 54!

Minghella's death was confirmed today by his agent, Judy Daish.

No other details were immediately available.

Minghella directed such critically acclaimed films as The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain.

    This is so unbelievably sad. He was an AMAZING director. you could just see his passion for story telling through his movies. RIP Mr. Minghella, thank you for some of the best movies i have, and probably will ever see.
