Kirstie Alley has just signed a development deal with Oprah's Harpo Productions.

It's unclear whether the deal might include a syndicated daytime talk show or a program for Winfrey's new cable channel (scheduled to launch in late 2009).

"I'm very open with what I've been through in my own personal life, and nothing — I mean nothing — is off-limits for me to talk about," Alley said. "And I won't lie — I live a beautiful life. So I hope to bring those elements together to offer something totally fresh for the television audience."

Lucky Kirstie. If Oprah gives you a show, chances are it won't do too bad. Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray are prime examples! Both hosts appeared frequently on The Oprah Winfrey Show before getting their own shows.

Alley has also been a frequent guest on Oprah, including a November 2006 appearance that generated buzz after she modeled a bikini to flaunt her 75-pound weight loss.

Let's just hope Kirstie doesn't use her new pulpit as a way to proselytize Scientology!

      Iyanla Vanzant was also launched by Oprah, lest we forget. But America was not willing to embrace an ethnic looking Black woman who wore her hair in locks. There's no guarantee that the Oprah seal of approval will make this show a hit.

      Kirstie dear, I have some concerns- not especially for you, but just generally. You are truly terrific - a genuine spirit. But here`s the thing. Does the media really need to be used by individual`s to work through their analytical and psycological problems to the extent that`s happening today? Does no one understand what the word `private` means? Even if the paparazzi speculate etc. an individual can still remain `private` which is different from `personal`. Having run a School for Deportment, Beauty and Manners for some years, I can not tell you what a `fee` many women extract from themselves because of an inability to maintain their composure, which of course `buys time`, `allows time`, `gives time` and exudes that wonderful female attribute - remaining an enigma. Female enigmas are rare today.
