I for one as a proud Canadian do not understand all the bitterness associated with Americans thinking we speak French. Even in Southern Ontario-5 hours away from New York- we are taught French from as young as kindergarden. There are so many different languages in Canada because we are a global community, I think we should take pride in that. Although we are not a colony we are a country. And I am sure not all Americans think we are French speaking people who live in a land of white. Ignorance goes both ways fellow Canucks! Yes, Quebec is not the only French speaking area. Sudbury has a large french speaking community, as do other areas in Canada. Quebec is part of our history and makes Canada a more interesting country.

It is ridiculous for canadians from Toronto to say that you will not hear French on the subway or that Toronto is an anglo city. Sure there is a large population of anglophones but every large city in Ontario and in most other provinces have at least one french immersion school. As someone who attended french schools in northern ontario and in toronto and currently takes French as a major in southern ontario, the ignorance some people is appalling. Being fluent in multiple language is a gift that you should all be so lucky to have. If you ever travel to Europe and have no knowledge of any romantic language (french, spanish, italian) consider yourself screwed unless you stick to major cities. Je suis fière d'être francophone!

Yes we were forced to study french in school, up until grade 8 but most of us never encounter french speaking people here, hence, I cant remember any of it……….

i believe the reason so many anglos here might be offended by those of you who assume that we all speak french is due partly to the ugliness of the french spoken here. Its really a very common, horrible version of the French spoken in France, or other part of Europe.
Secondly, Quebec, the french speaking part of the country, by rule is quite racist against anyone that isnt french speaking.
We have had to endure decades of their wanting to seperate from the rest of Canada and a very superior attitude from them.
So most of us anglos here, dont want anything to do with the French speaking people of Quebec.
And if you were a english speaking Jew living in Quebec? The racism directed at you was so bad that most had to leave Quebec and move to Ontario.

Personally, most of the french speaking people I have come across here in Canada, I find to be very loud, offensive, & common, so I can honestly say that I for one wouldnt wish to be associated with them.

I was sitting front row all week and caught that show.
She "fell" twice. Once at the end of the runway.
She slammed to the ground flat on her face. It was pretty horrible and probably not on purpose.
Then when she was walking back she fell at the very end on purpose.
