Spending His Son's Money

Seems all is not well in the Ledger family. Since the death of Heath Ledger back in January, his father, Kim Ledger, has been managing the millions his son left behind.
Now, Heath's uncles are speaking publicly against Kim and his handling of Heath's fortune.
Heath's uncles claim that Kim has a very bad track record with managing finances and estates. In fact, 15 years ago, Kim so poorly managed the estate their grandfather, a well respected engineer, had left them that he had to be removed as executor.
It is estimated that the estate was worth more than $2 million back in the '80s. Kim was removed from the estate by the Supreme Court due to a ruling that stated Kim's handling of the estate "placed the assets at risk."
Mike Ledger, one of Heath's uncles, stated that their grandfather's estated "plunged into enormous debt." He also claims that the family has no gain in removing Kim as executor, but their main focus is that Heath's daughter, Matilda, will be taken care of, despite a statement from Kim stating he would help.
Uncle Mike says on behalf of some of the family, "Our only vested interest is to assure that Matilda is well looked after. When you are talking about large sums of money like this, it should be an independent executor, but Kim hasn't chosen that way."
Money always gets in the way! They couldn't resolve this issue within the family????
One defender for Kim is Robert John Collins, the executor of Heath's will, who has known the family for over 30 years. He said the claims by Mike and the others were "rubbish".
Reports are that Kim and his brothers have been estranged since he almost ruined their grandfather's estate. So much so, that 17 family members weren't even invited to Heath's memorial and funeral.
To that Mike says, "I'm his godfather. We didn't even have the ability or the opportunity to pay our last respects to Heath. And I tell you, that is terrible – that is so sad."
Sad. Such drama and all over money.

How sad, he hasn't even been dead that long and the battle begins. Unfortunately I'm sure Heath never thought he was going to die so young and never even gave his Will a 2nd thought. A trust for Matilda needs to be set up and everything needs to go into that. his parents, siblings, etc. can take a hike, Matilda should get it all.

Give it all to Matilda. Heath like every dad out there, would've given her everything. His dad has no right to the money. Yeah the initial will of $125,000 he should keep it. But all the money that Heath made after Matilda was conceived is rightfully hers. They should just stop fighting over money and let Matilda be at least taken care of financially by her dad.
if an independent administrator or executor is appointed, poor matilda will be left with nothing but a bill for services. these appointed administrators are trained to legally drain every penny from the estate til there is nothing left. something average joe doesn't realize.

First of all there is no substance to the uncles claims…just a disgruntled relative.
Heaths family has appeared to act with dignity and grace during such a horrible time in their lives and certainly opened their arms completely to Michelle and Matilda…To ASSume and speculate as to how his Dad and sibs will handle the $20,000,000 estate Heath left them is petty and quite frankly, no ones fucking business. However, that being said I bet you a fucking dollah that from his estate is a nice little trust fund for his beloved daughter.

Heath Ledger was a loser - he could make time to make sure he got prescriptions for the medications he abused, but couldn't make time to have a will drawn up taking care of his little girl in case something happened to him? What an irresponsible and selfish jerk! His Dad and siblings should get none of that money - it belongs to Matilda. She needs an attorney to represent her - the will that was drawn up before her birth should be null and void. Michelle should get child support annually and the rest should go in a trust for Matilda and overseen by an independent party. If Heath had been responsible none of this would be happening…

Says a lot about Heath's family. Says a lot about why Heath was so isolated and withdrawn and fame seeking. His family's bitterness and materialism really affected him. Sad that it continues after he's gone. His family needs to set up a trust for Matilda and let Heath rest in peace. Michelle is a working actress and she is not entitled to support she was never his wife and they were not together at the time of his death. RIP Heath.
If his father is that irresponsible with money the estate should be taken out of his control. I'm sure Heath would want that money to be there for his daughter's future, not get blown on hair brained schemes of his Dad's. Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for Keith's Dad, but if he blew his own father's estate that does not bode well for Heath's estate. It should be in the hands of a court supervised, independent executor.
It is a shame this drug addict left nothing behind for his daughter………….her grandfather will blow it all.

Why can't "family" mind their own fukking business? If Heath left his estate to his family and put his dad in charge, then so be it. I'm sure they'll make certain that Matilda is well looked after. If I were to inherit a large amount of money I sure to hell wouldn't want anyone breathing down my neck and telling me how to manage it. If the media reported that she was omitted from the will, don't you think they would have reported that she had a trust fund? Do you realize that the will is much more important for a child? This story is pretty old. Anyhow, Heath's father seems like a bastard who wants all the money. There's talk of a second Will that gave everything to Matilda, but Heath never got around to signing it. Their saying the father will contest it. Regardless of what her mother makes, Matilda is entitled to EVERYTHING, she doesn't need to be taken care off by the Ledgers.

update your will after having children, people! I really hope the Grandfather does the right thing and takes care of Matilda with that money and also sets up a trust fund for her. If worse comes to worse, Michelle can sue the estate for child support to make sure Matilda sees some of (what should be) her inheritance.
Let this me a lesson learned by everyone. No matter how young you are, get your finances in order in the event you die and make sure your loved ones are protected. Heath should have had an updated will and a trust should have been in place for Matilda. This is Heath's fault.
