Britney Still In Trouble

Los Angeles city attorneys filed charges against Britney Spears last year after she was involved in a hit and run accident, which was gloriously captured on tape by the ever-present Spears paparazzi brigade.
Brit Brit ended up settling the case with the owner of the car she hit, however, she was caught driving without a valid California driver's license at the time of the incident, even though she had been living in LA for years.
Charges were then filed against her for lack of the license.
Now, prosecutors have just refused to drop the charges against her.
It was decided to postpone her case until Wednesday, June 18th, when they hope by that time Spears will no longer have a conservator.
City attorneys are pushing to charge Spears with misdemeanor charges, but her lawyers want the charges reduced to only an infraction. Her current attorney, Charlie Unger, said Britney "seems to be getting her life together. She has nothing on her record other than the infraction-type tickets we all get. She has a crime free life and that’s how we want to keep it. We’re still hoping we can work this all out."
The city attorney however does not agree. LA attorney Michael Amerian said Spears hit and run charge had already been dropped and that going after the driving without a license charge was the fairest way to treat her. He also stated that they were in no way affected by her being a celebrity.
Hey, and in the grand scheme of things, misdemeanor charges in a case of driving without a valid license is MINOR in comparison to the major drama that went on in Brit's life in the past year and a half!

Let her off with an infraction - she had it fixed aready. A misdemeanor?! Geezus - that's akin to a DUI (a DUI is a misdemeanor, so is theft, battery, etc., so long as not over a certain amount or aggravated / severe). She had a valid Louisiana license. She got a CA immediately. This should be an infraction AT BEST. This is absurd. Trust, this type of case would be TOSSED were she not a celebrity. This is total BS. This DA needs the BOOT.

Why don't they go after the thousands of illegal aliens who drive without licenses? I was hit by one….of course no insurance…and I never got a nice settlement like the one Britney gave to that woman. Ruined my insurance for me and caused a nightmare. As far as I know, the guy got off pretty easy.

Accountability can't be just wished away just because you've NOW decided you want a crime free life. She did it. She was driving with a valid license from her home state, not the same as driving without a license. Anyway, they're wasting a lot of time and effort over a very small deal. She had a valid licence just not in her state and then fixed that up pronto (she probably didnt even know) Why dont the police and courts deal with ACTUAL criminals instead. Although if this does go to court I hope they take away her licence for a little while as she is much MUCH MUCH better off not driving and getting chauffered with security. Hope that she keeps that up when the conveyorship ends.
