Owen Wilson bombed at the box office this weekend.
His new film, Drillbit Taylor, from Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen opened at a disappointing 4th place in the U.S.
The film only took in $10.2 million, despite a wide release of 3,056.
The fact that Wilson, who attempted suicide last year and was reported to be battling heroin abuse, refused to do any publicity for the film probably hurt its take at the box office.
Jim Carrey's family-friendly Horton Hears A Who! was #1 again, taking in an impressive $25.1 million.

That's not true, Perez. Owen did press and also some comedy central promos with the kids from the movie. Not to mention the Tony Hawk promo that went viral. Get your facts straight Perez. It wasn't Owen's fault that the movie tanked…it was the studio's pure and simple.
Once again Horton hears a who, is not a Jim Carrey. It is a cartoon that just happens to use Jim Carrey for a voice. He did not drive the box office on this one. Drillbit was not a good movie. That is why it did not do good. It has a few funny moments, that is all. Nothing to do with Wilson.

I took my son and daughter to see Drillbit and they both loved it, especially my son. I hope the move can pick up some steam because it's a great one for boys who are too old for movies like Horton but too young for other types of movies geared towards hormonal guys. Also, I agree with the other posters Perez. Why go out of your way to pick on Owen. You didn't have to say anything but chose to be nasty instead. Try practicing Random Acts of Kindness instead, okay?

The fact that he's still on the planet speaks to his courage. Fourth at the box office is nothing to be ashamed of. People shouldn't be so greedy for box office receipts. He was in such bad shape, and now he is recovering thanks to the love of his family and friends. I hope things go well for him in his personal life, which seems to impact him more than how well his films do at the box office.

Went to see the movie and LOVED IT !!! Theatre was full and everyone laughed throughout the entire movie. Those critics are idiots - don't know what they're talking about. GO SEE IT !!!

Too bad the movie didn't do better. It was a funny movie that we all enjoyed. The kids were saying they wanted to go, but I hadn't heard of it. Watched the preview and thought it might be fun. Was glad we went because there were a lot of laughs.
