Dr. Death's New Career Path

Assisted-suicide proponent Jack Kevorkian is running for a Congressional seat in Michigan, according to reports.
His priority if elected will be fighting for the right to die via the Ninth Amendment.
No surprise there!
Kevorkian says the Ninth Amendment protects rights not explicitly specified elsewhere in the Constitution. The way he sees it, the Ninth protects a person’s choice to die through assisted suicide or to avoid wearing a seat belt.
Kevorkian claims to have helped at least 130 people die from 1990 until 1998.
He was released from state prison last year after serving eight years for helping a 52-year-old man with Lou Gehrig’s disease, die in 1998. He was convicted of second-degree murder the following year.
Kervorkian also said the government is tyrannical, “You’ve been trained to obey it, not fight for it because the tyrant doesn’t like that.”
The old guy better have a lot more fight in him! He's 79 years old and just now getting into politics!

Gotta say, I agree with him.
I live in Michigan and have followed this story since his release. He is not a bad person, just went against the law and helped people. People take their beloved animals to be put to sleep every day, to keep them out of misery. What right do lawmakers really have to tell us how we are able to suffer, and die. it's crazy if you think about it.

You go Kevorkian!!! I'm all for his stuff. It's not like he's just "killing" people on a whim, these people are terminal and WANT his services! He rocks. I hope he wins.
I applaud the work of people fighting to give terminally ill people the right to choose to end their own suffering. Who is the Government or anyone for that matter to tell someone they are not allowed to end their own life? No person can be owned by another, therefore they should have the right to be relieved of their suffering. I have had family members die after prolonged fights with cancer - their bodies wasting away, needing help just to eat, go to the toilet or shower - that is not a way to live with dignity, being in pain and relying on other people to help you do the simplest tasks. It was heartbreaking…
I would never want to be the one to decide… but if it was their wish to be assisted by a trained professional to be removed from their suffering I would support it.
Power to the INDIVIDUALS who want the right to choose how they live!
He is not a "doctor of death" and he doesn't love to kill as he is portrayed in the media, the simple fact is that this man believes that terminally ill patients should have the right to die painlessly and with dignity. Please don't make him out to be a monster!

I am proud to live in Oregon where we have the right to die with dignity if we so choose. He isn't a murderer, he gave these people the relief that they desperately wanted. I think it's silly to make assisted suicide illegal- it's not like he's running them over with cars, they want to go before it gets worse or they turn into vegetables running up their family's debt. Go Dr. K!

K is absolutely freaking right! I watched my sister fight ovarian cancer for over 2 years and when she died it wasn't even her…SHe was nothing but a skeleton. She went through so much pain and grief. Dr K is awesome. We need to fight to get this passed. The government should not be able to choose how we should die if we have a non curable disease.

Totally agree with the Dr. If it's humane to put animals to sleep, why deny the human beings the same right to die when they choose it?
I wish Dr Kevorkian the best of luck in his new adventure. Criticize all you want, but until you have to deal with a loved one dying from a horrible illness, and begging for death as a release, and you can't help them, you have no idea what you're talking about.
Seeing loved ones suffer needlessly is inhumane. I truly consider him a hero in helping people check out on their terms, and not the doctors.
why can't suffering people choose to be put out of their misery? It's because christian lawmakers can't get that "separation of church and state" thing straight.
#38 - stfu…YOU are the one being selfish by imposing your desires on another persons life. this man does not kill people that he wants to die, he helps people who want to die end their lives in a humane way. it all comes back to the right to choice and free will…who are you to decide if living or dying is better for another person. and life is not always preferable to death, so dont even try to promote that. its a personal choice every person has to make for him/herself and by taking that right away, you are simply not willing to confront the reality of death, an therefore YOU are the selfish one.

At least Dr. Kevorkian is working for the good of humankind in the sense that he wants us to have total say over whether or not we want to live in agonizing pain for what? One or two days more? Whether or not I wish to pull the plug should be MY decision. NOT the governments. The government is supposed to be working FOR us. Not the other way around. This is my own simplistic view yes, because I am posting on a celebretard site and I am not going to write a dissertation. Bottom line: I support Dr. Kevorkian 100%. I support him…he is fighting a noble cause. It's not right to keep a terminally ill person alive…someone that is suffering, desires to die, and has no hope for any quality of life.
Whats wrong with allowing someone who is in pain and slowly dying the choice to a quick, dignified, and painless death? The ex Dr has a good point, the govt of this country has become too involved in citizens personal affairs. Mabey having him in congress wont be soo horrible, at least he has an open mind.

Anybody who has experienced a loved one with a terminal illness knows that it's the most humane and loving thing to do…. when there is no chance at survival, to terminate ones own life. We do it for our beloved pets. This country is comprised of mindless sheep that eat whatever you give them. Until everybody bands together and fights, they (government) will continue to lead you down the path of 'do as I say, not as I do'.

Oregon is the only state in the union that allows euthanasia — with a doctor's involvement, by the way and only for critically ill, terminal patients.

My grandmother was terminally ill for YEARS and all she talked about was how she wanted to die…she did die a few years later after continuous pain and I was never so relieved for her that it was over…I mean I never could have helped her kill herself..but if she had asked me to, I can't say I wouldnt have found someone who would help her. If someone wants to die whos right is it to say they shouldnt…and who the hell wants to be alone when they die…fuck you Perez…

I used to think he was a horrible person, but having just lost my father to cancer he would have been a welcome sight to my dad. He mentioned he wanted to move to Oregon so he would not have to suffer. I strongly doubt he will make it politically but I do commend him for helping those families in the 90's

I am in med school and have mixed feelings on this issue… However, I went with an open mind to hear this guy talk a few months ago, and he really is a crazy, evil old man. Before you vote listen to him talk for 5 min and you'll see how demented he is!!!

my lil bro is dying of cancer at 26. i remember dr. k's stories from when i was growing up in the detoit area. i mean if people are suffering what the fuck. put them out of their misery. i just wish assholes would die instead of good people like my young brother
i have watched my younger brother slowly die of cancer the past 3 years he is 26 now i think if people watched that they might change their mind. i don't want him to give up but if he ever decides the pain is not worth it, i would support him. if you don't agree, visit your local cancer ward. God have mercy on their souls.

I admire this man greatly and hope his ideals become reality here in Canada. If I were facing a painful and drawn out death I would only hope someone like him could help me.

I support him 100%.. he has seen those we suffer with no escape.. who have no control and loose all dignity. Im glad someone is fighting for everyones choice and say in their own life. We should be able to decide (while mentaill fit) what measures we would like if we have dementia, or are brain dead etc.

GOOD FOR DR. K!! He is a very smart man and a true compassionate. Anyone who how lost someone through a long, painful process can appreciate the issues behind euthanasia. He is a man ahead of his times.

Right now I am thinking I know of a couple of people living in great misery and pain, that I'd love to introduce to Dr. Kevorkian. What does he charge per head? Any discounts, like every third one free?
a person should be able to die if they want to. it's THEIR life afterall.
i don't see the point in forcing someone to live especially if they are ill and want to make an exit.
the hospitals just want money and the government probably twists it in to being anti-christian… but they have no right there… the government can't own a persons life!
i completely understand what he does and represents what totally disable/handicapped/defenceless people can't do by themselves. isn't more human to HELP them than deny the fate they want for themselves??
