Well, the first day of real battle has come and gone, and it looks like Mariah is the victor. Convincingly.
Both Carey and Madonna's new songs dropped on iTunes for commercial sale yesterday.
As of right now, Mimi's Touch My Body has skyrocketed all the way to the top and is resting at #1 on the iTunes singles chart.
Madge's 4 Minutes with Justin Timberlake, on the other hand, is only at #10.

maybe in iTunes, I bought 4 minutes yesterday at amazon and it was #1 while mariah was in 3rd or 9th… Madge was also #1 at 7digital in Europe and probably will be all around the world.

If you noticed, however, Madonna's song is occupying 3 separate positions on itunes because of the single, the regular album single and the deluxe album single…. so if all three were combined she would easily be in the top 5, if not #1. Mariah's song is only available one way, there isn't three different ways like Madonna has. Wait till the end of the week actual numbers come out…. it's gonna be closer than it looks right now.
Plus Mariah has several weeks worth of airplay familiarity… Madonna doesn't.
Just stating the facts…. if we must pit them together it's gotta be fair!
