Good news for you theater lovers heading to the NYC.

Rent will not close on Broadway June 1st, as previously announced.

The musical's producers said Wednesday that the last performance will now be staged on September 7th!

For those of you who rushed out to buy tickets to Rent in anticipation of its announced June closing, producers are giving you an option to attend later performances at the Nederlander Theatre,

According to a statement from the show, "In consideration of the Rent fans who have purchased tickets for the currently-announced final week, ticket holders wishing to exchange tickets purchased for performances from Monday, May 26, 2008 through Sunday, June 1, 2008 for performances during the extension period are welcome to do so subject to availability."

We may have to catch Rent one last time.

So are they bringing back the entire original cast or what?????

    The people at Nederland theatre are such jerks. I had ticket for the last matinee performance, 2 pm on 6/1. They won't exchange them, only for the last performance in the evening! I spent a lot of $ on the tickets just so I could go on the last day for nothing! The people working at the theater were so rude about it … I realize they don't make the policy and get paid crap, but they were just plain obnoxious. I'm pissed!

    I would give everything I own to see the original cast preform Rent one more time live. For those of you thinking of going to see Rent in nyc before it ends, do it! I bussed it from Toronto to see that show and it was the best day of my life!

    I am a theater lover, and for that, I am disappointed that Rent isn't ending. I love the concept behind it, but the actual production itself pales in comparison to the quality Broadway productions.

    Ugh, it's like a cockroach that refuses to die. The show sucks. I saw it with mostly the original cast and it was dreadful. You couldn't understand anything they were saying. Theater 101 - speak angled towards the audience, not directly to each other, or worse the back wall. Project your voice outward. It was possibly the worst production I have ever seen and I am including middle school plays in that. The only reason they are extending it is probably to try to save the Nederlander Theater which they are going to demolish after the show ends.

    OMG!! I'm so happy because we were a group of about 40 from Québec
    We went to NYC on easter and saturday March 22 we went to the Netherland Theater to see RENT

    It was my first experience and I can say that this comedy is absolutely FANTASTIC!! Seriously it is amazing go see it..

    I still have some songs in my head..
    OVER THE MOON..!!!!!
    525 600 minutes!!

    This show is not going to close for a long time. They announced that it would close to make up for lost money from the strike that happened earlier last year. It's going to be a while before they shut down production, but thanks to all those people who spent $10,000 on a ticket!

    I think that it's pretty appalling what they did to loyal theater-goers that spent tons of $$$ in order to get final show tickets. They should hold tickets for the final 2 performances and allow anyone with June 1st tickets to exchange them for a voucher for whatever the final date ends up being. You are buying those tickets to say goodbye to a show you love… it's not about just seeing it… it's being part of the final farewell. I'm glad it's sticking around for a bit longer, but appalling the way they're disregarding the people that they inconvenienced.

Fuck, if I could see her do Maureen live my life would be almost complete. All I'd have then is to see her play Elphaba live and THEN my life would be complete).     Most noticeably Anthony and Adam, particularly Adam, being complete crap in their return and doing nothing to boost ticket sales.
    Not to mention that Will Chase has already been signed to return as Roger from May-September.

    woof guys. ive seen rent about the same number of times that ive had sex. i saw it with the original cast in 1996 and i saw it when a.r. and a.p. came back and literally, they hated their lives. during over the mood, a.r. looked like he'd rather be in 2 girls 1 cup video. for serious though. i dont think there is going to be another attept at the reunion. at the 10th anniversary, idina and taye didnt know the show. i highly doubt taye is going to fly in to do the show with his gig in la. rent is generation x. spring awakening is generation y. lets move on and let the legend rest.
