RiRi is doing benefit gigs for underprivileged kids!

She kicked off the mini-tour in Chicago on Wednesday and then it's on to San Francisco and New York City.

The singer's charity, The Believe Foundation, and her label, Island Def Jam, "got together with a local foundation in three cities and Escada and [the label's fragrance] Moon Sparkle" to sponsor the benefit gigs.

"When I was young and I would watch television and I would see all the children suffering, I always said when I grow up I want to help," the Umbrella star said by way of explaining why she started The Believe Foundation.

"Not long after I was in the position where I could help. I started to visit all these children's hospitals and I have a soft spot for kids," she says. "I just want to help and make sure they are happy. They can come to a Rihanna concert or have toys or gifts at Christmas."

Earlier this month, she also played a major role in a drive that went into helping a New York woman find a donor for a bone-marrow transplant.

"So many people got involved, and it made such a difference. I'm so glad we were able to help give her life and give here to her family," Rihanna said of the outpouring of support that she helped to cultivate.

The fact that you have to advertie the good you do says it all. Beyonce has The Survor Foundation which helped Katrina victims get housing after the storm. Her family also runs a youth recreation center in Houston amongst other charities that she's either donated to or started. You should do your research before you start mouthing off.

If Perez took the time to research before blasting Beyonce, he would've found out that Beyonce is very active in her Survivor Foundation which provides housing for Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims. Beyonce has also done work and continues to work with the Ronald McDonald House. I wish people would stop comparing Rihanna and Beyonce.
