Perez, Why don't you just TELL us what it's about. Give us a synopsis. Showing us a guy appearing to be dressed as a girl is just going to scare alot of people off. Gays may be cool with it, and think it's hilarious, but not everyone wants to see guys prancing around in wigs and skirts. (I am gay, & MAY find the show watchable, but I am being considerate of other people for whom this may not be their forte.)

Perez you rock! Summer Heights High is my all time favourite show. Tho pple in USA and UK may not get the humour because it is like one big aussie inside joke! Kind of like Kath&Kim- us aussies have a very warped no bull shit kind of humour.

Tho it got a bit of controversy partly due to the fact that the characters he based them on were far too real- (and must I add that Mr G is a real teacher at Chris Lilleys sisters school/ and partner school on Sydneys north shore- he is my veryyy camp drama teacher that has received a lot of flack from students after that series!) as well as the strange similarity in appearance and name of the girl who overdosed on ecstacy in the show and in real life…

american audiences may not like the show and may be put off by the fact that a guy is playing a female character but i think that's got more to do with their societal retardation. it's got nothing to do with homosexuality. although ja'mie pretends to be a lesbian it's also quite different to the office

Whilst it's a massive hit here (among teenagers/pre-teens AND adults), it doesn't necessarily mean American's will see the side of it as us Aussies do.

Perez, I'm so proud that you like this show!! And I wish people would stop being so ignorant. Its not an immature show, in fact, its humour is very tongue in cheek. If you live in Australia (especially Melbourne, where its set) it can ring very true at times…often a little true (which is why the show got so much flack). The principal in the show was even my real school principal! Enjoy it guys, its worth it!

There are other characters besides this one, including a gay drama teacher called Mr. G who is actually the funniest thing in it, all played by the one person. It's basically a snapshot of school life 'characters' that everyone can relate to.
