It seems there's a huge problem arising in Mexico, and it has nothing to do with politics or money.
Apparently, there is a wave of violence occuring against emo kids. Why the haterade???
Emo music fans are being attacked in the street by mobs. The attackers are supposedly punk, metal, and rock fans who dislike the emo kiddies for their look and attitude, it's being reported.
What's wrong with a little guyliner and mascara????
The attacks are being traced back to a rant on air by Kristoff, a TV personality on Televisa TV. Kristoff recently said emo was just "fucking bullshit", but later - after the attacks, he called for an end to the violence.
Unfortunately for Kristoff, he might take the blame for all the incidents if the Mexican government blames Televisa for all the attacks.
Earlier this month, over 800 people in Querataro, Mexico began to gang up against the emos, which resulted in several violent attacks. Just a week later in Mexico City, a similar incident took place. The emos in both Querataro and Mexico City decided to respond to the violence by marching peacefully through the center of the cities.
How emo!

And, it seems Mexico isn't the only country facing this issue. Apparently, Chile is also seeing violence against emos.
Attacks have been shown on news reports throughout the country of emos, known in Chile as "PokEMOns" being attacked.

Why do people hate on emo anyways, I mean emo isn't real it is made up by the media and perpetuated by idiots. I don't know all the specifics about how it came about but isn't all music (other than most rap) an expression of emotions, yet somehow these kids are ganged up on. I listen to some "emo" music but I don't wear black, I don't cut myself, and I don't wear mascara. People just need to stop finding groups of people to discriminate against, this is just some punk rockers trying to be more hardcore than their younger counterparts… pussies!

I actually party a lot near where all of those 'emo' kids hang around here in Mexico City, they just sit there and look sad, haha. I have nothing against them and I see them all the time… I think it's stupid to blame just one person, even one network… Televisa is HUGE here but one person (Kristoff) against 5 or 6 thousands that worh there. Unfortunately anything that may suggest homosexuality in many Latin American societies is considered threatening or unacceptable. Guys wearing eyeliner and wearing womens' pants could definitely be seen as homosexual resulting in an attack. I know that assumption is beyond the "emo" look, but many Hispanic cultures are still conservative Catholics who look down on anything remotely homosexual.

I don't think the hate has anything to do with the music. I think first of all, it is mob mentality. You can be part of a fight and riot and you know there will be no consequences.
and second of all, i think the hate is more toward the emo's appearance. Emo guys are pretty. They wear makeup and spend time on their hair and clothing and fashion, and are sensitive. All this equals =GAY in the haters minds. And most of latin america is very machista. And Homosexuality is not accepted in most parts.
