In college towns across America, record stores continue to close in record numbers.

Sad.

Awww This makes me sad as a UNC alumni. Schoolkids was such an icon. Franklin Street is selling out all around. My brother worked at a record store just around the corner from schoolkids and it closed years ago. We better never lose CD Alley and Nice Price!

April 16th is Record Store Day! Google it, guys.

#97 - Jaded Pinkclit Smith - I live in Chapel Hill. The whole town is like Schoolkids Records. What a bunch of lazy, ignorant, phony, professional students who have never had real jobs and suck their income from our hard earned tax dollars. Most of this town is filled with losers who have the audacity to call themselves "elite". They have to say that because no one else will. There is nothing in the world lazier or stupider than a college professor.

RIP to the record labels who have been raping the consumer for decades. sucks for the little guys trying to sell cds, but really, didnt you see this coming?

What the fuck is a record store? It's not 1973. And why would anyone pay $20 for a cd in a store when you can buy them on Ebay or Amazon for half price? Or download them FOR FREE? And fuck all the shitty music that's out these days. Who the fuck would pay $1 for a Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry or Britney Spears CD. Fuckin garbage.

School Kids has been around for ages and I hate to see it go. This was where I got my first Strokes cd and numerous other firsts from artists. The digital age is killing the independent record stores yes, but how about the big guys like Best Buy that sell their "indie" cds for cheaper. It's the consumers, corporations, and the goddamned republican party taking away the vivacity of mom and pop stores.

Re: amle – you obviously listen to sub par muzak to begin with. plenty of albums exist that are a solid listen from head to toe. free your mind and your ass will follow. listening to an album all the way through is how the artist intends, whether you don't like certain songs doesn't matter… it takes away from
      the experience. dig in!

you can all whine about high cd prices and justify your stealing that way but

STEALING STUFF AND THEFT IS JUST WHAT IT IS!!!!

it's just low-class ignorance to justify your actions in that way………
