Showing Their Age, Sucking Hardcore
80's pop sensations Duran Duran kicked off their world tour in odd fashion on Wednesday.
"Duran Duran, fucking up in style," exclaimed lead singer Simon Le Bon to the concertgoers at their first show, in Auckland, New Zealand.
And boy was the statement right on the mark!
Le Bon forgot the lyrics to their smash hit Hungry Like a Wolf and bassist John Taylor stormed off the stage at one point. Taylor abandoned his instrument apparently in reaction to a segment in which the group's members donned matching satin suits and headsets to play a medley on keyboards and an electric drum set.
"I could not dance to that. These people came here to dance," Taylor said, after he returned to the stage.
What a hot mess! Love it!
They begin a North American tour in Vancouver, Canada, on April 29th.
Hope they give us some crazy on this side of the world!

I was there and yes, they sucked! They actually fucked up about 4 songs and had a few big gaps in between songs when their sound guy didnt get the drum machine stuff going….. Simon Le Bon looked like he was going to beat the shit out of him at one stage…..
Pretty average concert, but they rocked out the old classics which made it worth it.
Have to say Im gutted that John Taylor is such a muppet tho, I was so in love with him in my youth and quite frankly hes just a dick……. tries waaaaay too hard.
John Taylor looks Great and is the only sober man in the band. He is a Prince & a Gentleman.

I saw Pink last year and she fucked up twice in the one show. Gene Simmons from KISS fucks up the lyrics all the time. It provides a bit of a laugh. I'm certainly not holding it against them. The mind is great, but not that great.
Grow up and move on.
I'd rather see Duran Duran than most of today's shit out there.

John Taylor is so nice, if you have never met him, keep your "dick" comments to yourself. They are all still very good looking men, hello, Simon will be 50 this year! I just hope they are not fighting already, we already lost Andy… the 4 better still be together for the NY shows.
The concerts are always fun and they keep things fresh. Maybe Perez should go to a concert and judge for himself!

I saw them 1 1/2 years ago in Belgrade. They sound perfect, they look perfect. As a matter of fact it was the best concert I've been. Anyway, this is a gossip web page.
HIM is coming to Auckland on March 31 and they are still in their prime and rocking like mad! A hot Finnish band who will rock the house down. Much better.
Duran Duran is one of my favorite bands but i agree with you, Perez, that their new image sucks and im my opinion, the creativeness in their songs has disapeared! i dont mind the song Falling Down but the other songs suck! have you heard Skin Divers?..seriously fucking retarded. And doing songs with Timberland and JT is not a smart choice on their part. They are always trying to re-invent themselves but i think they're too old for that and need to go back to their roots. ( best song ever..Come Undone )

Well, I'm not a hard core fan. The last CD I bought of there's had Ordinary World and Come Undone but I did get Red Carpet Massacre after I saw them on biography.com. I got it for th Justin Timberlake/Timbaland collaboration. And I DO like "She's Too Much". I think the recording company picked the wrong single. As for their 'snafus', move on. It appears the concert-goers didn't notice or care. Sounds like the band's lightened up and not taking themselves too seriously.
