American Idol is about to get a whole helluvalot better!
A special guest will be appearing on AI next week, and it's none other than… DOLLY PARTON!
Ms. Parton will be a mentor to the finalists on April 1st and the night will be filled with her songs.
And, for all the lucky viewers, Dolly will return on April 2nd to perform live. Dolly will be singing Jesus & Gravity, the second single from her new album Backwoods Barbie.
It seems recent castoff Chikezie was set to perform Dolly's 9 to 5.
Someone else better be singing that next week!
Also performing next week will be The Clark Brothers. They're some bluegrass, country band that won The Next Great American Band. Yea, we didn't watch that either.
Besides, everyone will be tuning in for Dolly!

The Clark Brothers are actually quite good. And cool, in a bluegrass-country-emo-rock way. And you'd probably like them if you only widened your idea of what's 'cool' beyond what you think is properly 'hip' enough for you to enjoy.
I got hooked on that 'Next Band' show thanks to my 17-year old daughter who had me watch it with her. She loves the Clark Brothers, and we live in LA. How could that be? Then again, my daughter's CD collection runs from Green Day and The Killers to The Velvet Underground and The Ramones and Janis Joplin…all the way to Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and the sooundtracks to West Side Story and Bye Bye Birdie.
