Another Strike Looms

strike.jpg

Some troubling questions still loom over LaLaLand.

When will the heads of the actors' unions start their talks with the big media moguls about a new contract?

And, can the union leaders painlessly negotiate a good deal for their members?

We're sure no one really wants another strike. The 100-day Writer's Strike cost the local LA economy an estimated $2.5 billion.

The studio suits have urged the unions to kick things off by April 1st.

And, A-listers like George Clooney and Meryl Streep cautiously stepped into the fray by taking out a full page ad in Variety leaders for a speedy resolution.

However, the Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg and Executive Director Doug Allen don't seem ready to jump in just yet. The leaders have said publicly they will push for an even better deal than the one writers got.

That smells like trouble!!!!

SAG and AFTRA, the two main actors' unions, are meeting this weekend.

Get it together!

im sorry but actors don't deserve more money than the writers. they just recite lines! kids in every town do the same thing! plus they get audience adoration. they'll be ok.

    writers deserved a new deal!

Let them strike. Bring in the newbies who are starving for a chance to act.

Let 'em strike……Let 'em strike…..Let 'em strike!!!!!!!
Let 'em strike…….Let 'em strike…..Let 'em strike!!!!!!

Actors ARE a dime a dozen.

At a time when the paying public is beginning to shy away from the ever-increasing trend toward dark and unpleasant films, it might be a good idea to be a little cautious about disrupting the industry again. People in the past might have been willing to pay a moderate price for a good film, but after another disgusting fight to the death between intractable opponents, why would people be willing to pay a severely inflated price for a film that is so evil that it actually stinks? Beware.

Re: loo – I'm sorry but actors are not a dime a dozen and we do not just recite lines. I normally would never respond to posts but this one made me extremely angry. I am in school for acting. It is an art. We develop a craft just like a painter or a writer. We work together with the writer to create a character. Reading lines does not create a character nor do words on a piece of paper. It is what the actor brings to the table that actually creates a person. I agree that there are a lot of sellouts out there but not every actor makes millions of dollars. Most make barely enough to survive. The strike would help all of them just like the writers strike helped all writers.

And its about the internet as a medium and getting paid for work that shows up there (not working for free). Actors get a paycheck every time a rerun shows on TV. It should be the same for the internet.

GREEDY ASS MOFO's. Seriously, these people are lucky to make the money and have the jobs they have. While they were striking and causing the taxpayers of LA 2.5 bill, other tv workers who don't make a lot of money lost their jobs b/c there was no work. The rich always have to get richer and the average middle class american will continue to live paycheck to paycheck. it's fucking RIDICULOUS. The writer's should be ashamed of themselves. FOR REAL.

Because of the strike, I no longer care about the shows I used to watch. The strike showed me I don't need to watch so much TV on a nightly basis. I also don't watch that many movies any more because no one in Hollywood can write an original script to save their lives so the writers can strike all they want.

Greedy actors and their self-righteous crap about the plight of the poor. Most of them don't give a DIME, charge to even attend a charity event, and don't really do anything but say the words others write, direct them to say and edit after they've said them 50 times just to make sure they got it right. They aren't role models- they are overpaid morons. Why do they deserve MORE for doing a job most talented high school actors can do well? They aren't special. Acting talent really is a dime a dozen. That's why so many actors never make it- there is nothing special about what they do.

Ay please, i for sure don't fucking care. The last thing actors need is more money, plase strike, fuck up the hollywood industry, pay less, give more to people who are actually working and not dancing around reciting lines on a set. Give it up they are waaaaay more important things than stupid movies and stupid actors. Fuck them all.
