Both Breaking Records

Here's a chance for both Madonna and Mariah fans to celebrate!

When the latest Billboard Hot 100 singles chart is released on Wednesday, both pop divas will have reached new milestones.

M & M are set to break two records set by Elvis Presley, making music history together on the same week!

Thanks to its release as a digital single, Mimi's Touch My Body is expected to be the #1 single in America this coming week. It will be her 18th #1, and she will surpass Elvis as the artist with the most #1 hits.

Meanwhile, Madge's 4 Minutes will jump into the Top 10 this week and she will beat Elvis as the artist with the most Top 10 hits in music history. It will be her 37th !!!

That is INSANE!!!!

So many artists wish they could have a Top 10 single, and Madonna is on her way to #37!!!!!!!!

How is this unfair to Elvis? He had a very long career and he broke tons of records. He really has nothing to prove b/c he's a legend. Mariah's record is amazing b/c she only has 2 more to go before tying with the Beatles and then 3 more to go until she tops everyone!!! Madonna's soon to be 37 top ten hits is way more impressive than Mariah's 18 number 1's I love both of them very much but here is why. Madonna never resorted to selling her singles for 99 cents in the 90's. Mariah did. I love alot of Mariah songs and will admit she has a better voice then madonna but with that said… you cannot compare the 2. And as for Madonna being out longer. You have to go by the number of studio albums each has had and they both are coming out with their 11th so length of time doesnt really matter.

I don't think Mariah is gonna be #1. I think Leona Lewis will stay because of airplay and people love that song (eventhough it sounds like Mariah). Mariah will be #2, but I could be wrong. But I do think you'll see Madonna breaking the record (even though, technically, she already did with "Hung Up" because 2 of his top 10 singles were released on the same single 7"… which means that it only counts as one… but people still ignore the technicality). BUT, Madonna is Queen and sometimes Queens reign longer (and better) than Kings…!

Where did you get your list from? It most certainly does not inlcude all artists out there from every genre. George Strait currently has 52 singles out there that have reached #1 status. Also, I'm not a fan of Mariah or anything, but according to Billboard, whenever she had top hits they always stayed at the top longer than Madonna's did.

People may not know this. But Mariah's record company used a payola type scheme in the 90's. DJ's and small radio stations in New York and elsewear were being paid to play her singles,popularizing them with the listing audience. That and selling her singles for 99cents in the 90s, I wonder when she takes over the number one singles spot, would this be legit & fair. Since atleast one law was broken. Payola is illegal…

You really can't compare Mariah to Elvis or The Beatles. That was a different time. Billboard keeps changing the way they determine the position of the single. Number 1 hits are so different now. Most of the country probably hasn’t even heard the number 1 single in the country. Also, I doubt if people back then were worried about chart positions as Mariah's lambs seem to do, so I doubt if Elvis or Beatles fans were buying 20 singles a piece to get the single to number 1.
