Funny that the people from South America that come here actually speak English and go to college. My husband is from Argentina and I when I visited his family I was shocked that so many people there that have never even been to the USA could speak fluent english (even his 95 year old grandmother could speak a few phrases). He explained that it was a matter of social class, most Hispanic people with money and a good education are bilingual and they come here legally. The same for Mexican people that are higher class. Guess it all boils down to education and class. My husband finds it insulting when he gets junk mail in Spanish, he won't even read it. I get it now too because of my name.
